There may be some, or even many, Pet Talkers who do not know who Doris Day is so I searched out this link to the Animal League she founded.
http://www.ddal.org/AboutusDoris.html
I heard on the radio that it was her 79th birthday last week and it seems fitting, because of her love of animals, to post a birthday greeting here on Pet Talk! :)

:)A Belated Happy Birthday Wish for you Miss Day!! :)
And may there be many more to come!

Oh, only Richard can answer that but it aint neccessarily so!:D I think Doris has a sort of timeless appeal. Both of my elder brothers, Geoff and John, used to love Doris (probably still do, Lol) and had pictures cut out of magazines on their wall, along with ones of Brigette Bardot and Marilyn Monroe (of course!) But Doris Day was definitely the favourite. Many years later my son also liked her a lot too though he stopped short of pictures on the wall, that was reserved for Debbie Harry and Kim Wilde, among others!:D
My husband was the only male in the circle of his and my brothers era (he was ten years older than me) that was not a big Doris fan, he liked her but if anyone was tops with him it was Elizabeth Taylor.

Chris

p.s.I guess I don`t have to tell you that I think she was/is great!:D

Sorry I do not want to be banned to the dog house but I always knew that someone who loved Rock hudson must be a little aaaahhhh, strange, aaahhhh innócent -or how should I put it?

Just gimme Hepburn (both of them) or Barbara Stanwyck or Lana Turner.........

Or should I admit something really weird? Gregory Peck

Gregory Peck loving weird?? Since when? I had a massive crush on him when we watched To Kill A Mockingbird in school. So tall and handsome. Veryyyyy dreamy. :)

I also love Barbara Stanwyck, she's beautiful and so fascinating to watch. Ditto for Ava Gardner.

Film Stars from days gone by..........I also like Gregory Peck, Katherine and Audrey Hepburn, then there is, Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Bette Davis, Steve McQueen, Robert Redford, Paul Newman..oh, and James Dean, soooo gorgeous!.. ....I bet I`ll think of a whole lot more too, once I`ve posted! :D

Wow Doris Day 79! Where did all the years go?

I adored her and her gorgeous stream of leading men - Sorry Barbara - but definately Rock Hudson - he was lovely.

Just went weak at the knees whenever I saw Montgomery Clift!

Ditto James Dean!

I still think Audrey Hepburn was the epitomy of grace.

And Sophie Loren - whenever she appeared on screen - she simply stole the show.

Oh and Cary Grant - not Gods gift to acting - but soooooo smooth!

Paul Newman's eyes were to dive into!

A young Clint Eastwood - woohoo!

Oh - and 'our' Dirk Bogarde - he could make me weep!

(Feeling all her years - she staggers to bed!! )

Lana Turner: unfortunately I must admit you're right. It's my age, 66 sigh, when I was in bed I found that the face I had in mind was Lauren Bacall's.

But names and faces..... That's what you call Alzheimer light:(
