How cool are these?!!!

I was getting some dried food from the vet's yesterday and they had contact lenses for cats! They aren't prescription, but are like the human ones that change the colour of your eyes for special occasions. They had turquoise, deep blue, violet and copper. I got the turquoise and violet to try on the tolerant Meezer boys at home - the results are below.

It took about 30 minutes and some scratched arms to get them in (I won't be doing THAT too often!) and they're supposed to stay in for no more than 24 hours. You keep them in a saline solution and they can be used for about a month. Cost was $A19.95 for each pair. They are getting in lenses for dogs (small - medium about $24.95 and large dog about $29.95).

I really like Tabasco's change from blue to turquoise. I think Mini looks a tad too much like Elizabeth Taylor for my liking.

That's gorgeous. When will they come up with pet fur dye? Oh, the possibilities! Also, you should see if they have any contacts with really cool designs like stripes and spots.:D

Wowee I've never heard of lenses for kitties!!! Your kitties look great!:)

"Looks" soooo cute(but is NOT!!)!! There is NOOOOOOOOOO way Inka would let me put those in!!! I would be covered with scratches, but no lenses in her eyes yet:rolleyes:
But, no worries, this thingies are NOT going to be allowed in MY house... it sounds a bit like cat-abuse to me:( :(

And what is the purpose of that? To change the colour of your cat's eyes? Oh please

WHY would anyone want contacts for cats? (especially if they are ONLY cosmetic?)

The eye colors on your furbabies are striking with those contacts.

Interesting invention. :)

I just don't see the point in putting contact lenses in cats eyes!
It's a sure way to get infections building I'll bet. Sorry couldn't do it to any cat - unless it was a surgical need.

And maybe ones for Little Pericot to look like James Dean???

Oh what a fun! ;) :D :D

Tabasco and Mini are boys. They look very charming.
Today - April's Fool Day - I would suspect Nicole of trying to fool us. What do you think, is it colored (I can do that on my home pc - I have a special programme) or it's really lenses?

Although their eyes are beautiful I don't think there are really contacts for cats, PETA would have a fit for one, and I don't think people would really try it, I know I wouldn't. It would seem harmful to me at best.

April Fools?

if it IS an April fools' joke, I was surely taken in by it.
( but I DO remember Nocole asking how to change a color on a picture when we were making our Christmas cards................HMMMMM)

I don't think it's a joke. She was telling me about these a while ago, and they finally came in. It's so exciting to be able to do this. The cats complain a little at first and might have trouble getting adjusted for a few days, but they get used to it. And as long as it looks good, who cares?

I hear they are going to have them available with flags on them...

(with tongue firmly in cheek and April 1 still on the calendar...):D ;) :D

They ACTUALLY let you put those in?!?!

I don't like the idea though. Why does a cat need to change the color of its eyes? PLEASE silly inventors. What's the point in all this? I would NEVER do that to an animal. :(

Wow, I sure hope it is an April Fool's joke. I work for an ophthalmologist and we see enough humans with infections from their contacts. My boss would totally spazz if he heard this. I would hate to see cats developing infections as well as corneal ulcers. Please say it isn't so. :)

He he, my cats would totally spazz if I tried to put anything near their eyes! And I would still be in the emergency room having my arms sewn back on.

Happy April Fool's Day (even though it's 2 April here today) :D

You had me fooled too Nicole. :D I'm glad it was only a joke though. I'd hate to think that there are people out there that would use these just to change their pets eye color.
