I was listening to O'Reilly on the way home from school today and a caller called in who has a website called www.operationshoebox.com and it's for anyone who is interested in sending a care package to one of the troops. Very cool idea.

She said that she has gotten hate mail from people on the website....tacky!!!

One of our members has a Marine nephew in Iraq and his wife got names of Marines, so that we could send mail to a specific person. I know this has been on the news that we are not supposed to send mail, but I understand the wife got the names from the CO of the company and she explained what we were going to do. I think about 75% have been covered, from what I understand they are on their way to Bagdad, since Don was Navy, we got the Corpsman, some are sending packages and some are sending mail with pictures of their dogs etc. etc.

Operation ShoeBox is an interesting website.

The Whitehouse suggested today that the USA Freedom Corps (http://www.usafreedomcorps.gov/) website is the omnibus place for people looking to support the troops should go to for instructions. The help for troops and families (http://www.usafreedomcorps.gov/for_volunteers/spotlight/articles/200303-07.asp) page has information and leads to other websites.

Thanks for posting this! I really like listening to O'Reilly! Don't always agree with him - but he gets the point across!
