SAFE FOODS


sunflower seeds

thistle seeds

Moroccan millet

buckwheat

grass seed

linseed

rolled oats

peanuts

filberts

dog biscuits (small, unflavored portions)

Apples (thick chunks, NO SEEDS)

Pears

Strawberries

Raspberries

Plums

Bananas

Carrots

Cabbage

Endive

Cauliflower

Broccoli

Celery

Green peas

Corn

Cucumbers (thick slices)

Ripe tomatoes

DANGEROUS FOODS


Raw beens

Apple Seeds

Potato seeds

Green parts of potato tubers

Leaves of carrots and tomatoes

Hemlock

Laburnum

Onions

Chocolate

Also, avoid foods with a high amount of sugar Meadow saffron

Remember to always have a basic seed diet, adding these foods every couple of days. Do not overfeed in attempt to try out all of them. Below is a dietary balance for hamsters:


17.5% protein (at least)

17.5% protein (at least)

2.5% fat

58% carbohydrates

0.3-0.5% calcium

8.5% crude fiber (at most)

Vitamins (E is most important)

always be sure your hamster is eating healthy and make sure you always have a fresh supply of water the good ol H2O. :)

I have three corrections on the list..Cauliflower.. the stem and leaves are only to be fed to the hamster and tomatoes are not to be fed to hamster. And also a very , very small amout of sunflower seeds are to be fed to hamsters also!!
