The Eyes Have It... (Pics)

I'm surprised Oz hasn't hidden my camera from me. I just can't
seem to stop taking pictures of him. I'm sure he's hoping the
novelty will wear off soon. The other day I realized he had
eyelashes. How'd I miss those??? So I just had to get some pics
of them. I double checked and Murph and Maddie don't have
them. Anybody elses dog have eyelashes? Add Pics of your Dog's
Eyes, if you've got'em.

Oz's eyes are beautiful. He looks like he is wearing blue contacts! In so many of the pictures I take the eyes come out glowing and the furkids look like aliens from another planet. :rolleyes: Nice pics!

LOL! Kfamr and Tomkatz those are great! Glad to know I'm
not alone in this picture taking thang. How'd ya'll get so
close to the eye?

Thanks Pam! I found that if I can take the picture with enough
light that the flash doesn't go off, I can get really good eye
shots. Otherwise Oz gets red eye and Murph and Maddie get
a blue glow to theirs.

I have a pretty cheep camera but I bought a macro lens for it and then I set the flash for red eye. I had to hold their noses so they wouldn't move:)

I just looked and Nebo has very dark and very small eyelashes. I couldn't find a pic that showed them. I'll take one later, but here's an eye pic for now:

Reggie has very long eyelashes. I accidentally trimmed one side when I groomed him though, lol, so I trimmed the other side too...so they aren't too long right now. I'll try to take a pic though. I don't know about Smokey.

Tikeyas_mom, if you are asking about Oz, he's a very handsome smooth collie.

Tikeyas_mom, wolfq is correct-a-mundo, Oz is indeedy a Smooth
Coated Collie. He's a Sable Merle, and with the blue eyes, that
makes him somewhat rare. Show folks would consider him
flawed, but I love the uniqueness of him.

ParNone, I had to buy an adapter so the different lens would fit on. They screw on to the adapter, and the adapter hooks on to the camera. Maybe just check the web page for the make of camera you have and see if they make adapters for it.

Is your Collie a purebred? I have a friend who breeds them, and I have been around alot of the show dogs. I don't think I have ever seen one with such nice big eyes.

My guess as to what kind he was was smooth coated collie, but the blue eyes threw me.

He is a beaut!:D

Can we see some body shots of your dog? I would love to see a sable merle. I have a blue Aussie, and my friends has all colors of Collies, but I don't think I have ever seen a sabel merle. Sounds pretty.

Yes Oz is a purebred, Smooth Coated Collie. I was told that
normally the Sable Merles lose their mottling and look more like
just a sable and white Collie. And I've also read that blue eyes
on Sable Merles are not desired in the show ring. So I think his
appearance is probably somewhat rare. I love the uniqueness of him. Here's a full shot of him:

Oz is gorgious. :D I too love the blue Collies. I was looking at this really sweet blue bitch that my friend had for sale, but I decided that I needed to focus on the two dogs I have for the time being. Some day though...

Yeah, I have pics of her, but can't seem to post them. I made an album of all my 4 leggers at imagestation.com, called kim's four legged family in the pet, general section. There is one face shot of Ash in there, I got a few more body shots today. But I have to wait for my hubby to up load them to the computer since I am not the "administrator" I can't do it. :rolleyes:

Hi floppsy and tikeya's mom,

Are ya'll taking the pics inside? I find that if I can get a certain
amount of light behind me, whether coming through a window
or sunlight outside, I can get very nice and bright pics. This
also prevents the flash from going off, which gives you those red
eye or glowing eye pics.

Hi wolfsoul,

The tips of the ears are suppose to tip forward for show Collies.
A lot of them don't naturally though, so their ears are glued
or taped when they're young so the cartilage will form to have
their ears tip. Oz isn't a show dog though and I didn't care if
his ears were straight up or not, so I decided to let nature take
its course.

Les...When Cody was heavier, it was hard to tell his gender, but now that he has a waistline, he's obviously a boy! ;) :D Sandra's husky is Cody, a girl and I know another female named "Kodie" I guess the name can go either way.
