That's funny - the dog seems oblivious, but he has definitely been seen.

HeHeHe! I just love those puffed kitties! Do you think they puff themselves up to look fearsome or do you think it is the same as when we get goose bumps and the little hairs on our arms stand straight up? I am sure it is the latter, but they probably would like to think they look threatening to that dog! Great picture!!!!

So tell me, did the dog come any closer or did he just wander away totally clueless that he was being watched?

Mini Buffalo! Too funny!:D

He was totally clueless. He got out by mistake and ran over to our place. The owners snatched him up real fast!

Is there actually a 4th cat in that picture, in front of the grey kitty? I think I see ears.. maybe it's a shadow?

Wow, you can tell that just from the ears?!!?! You're good! ;) :D Or is it that you only have 6 cats in the house (because Bo's not there)...oh, must be seven because Gypsy wasn't there, it was Bailey. I'm so confused now I can't keep any of them straight - but you're good!! ;)

That is a great picture. I'm so glad you were there, and most importantly, had the camera handy. They do look like mini buffalo though. ;) :D

And Pam, I think they do it to make themselves look bigger and more threatening - it's not just an instinct thing like goose bumps would be. There is usually hissing associated with the puffiness, and it's all meant to scare away the offender. If the hissing and puffiness don't work, the claws are the next things to come out. :D
