How do you guys make those cool avatars?? Is it something that a non-technical person can do?

Thanks!

I just took a picture of my cat Abby and resized it to 60 x 45 pixels with a photo editor (if you don't have photo resizing software, I recommend Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com)) and go into your Control Panel and then to 'edit options'. Then you can browse on your computer to your resized picture, and upload it to this site (they host it for you!) and ta-da! That's it.

I am really bad at explaining things. I mean go into your Control Panel here at this forum (User CP) to upload your avatar.

Then click here (http://www.whitsoftdev.com) to go to a site and download the UnFREEz 2.1. This is a tiny little program that you can add you pictures to and they will rotate between them. If you see in my avatar it flashes back and forth between T & P, this is how I did it. You can add as many pics as you want I guess, I only added two. You can pick the speed that they flash at also. Then upload that how Boscibo explained and we'll get to see Jonah and Finn everytime you post! :D

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Oh, and UnFREEz takes .gif files....and it's a free program too. Hope this helps!:)

I usually make my Avatars with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 :)

Thank you all for your help with the avatars! As you can see, I got it!! I wanted to download the UnFREEz 2.1 software to make it flash two different pics, but alas, it doesn't work on a Mac :( (I have a mac for both my home and work computer!)

On a Mac you can do it in Image Ready and also in Gif Builder. :) ;)

Here's a link to Gif Builder - it's free. (http://palfrey.userworld.com/dazzle/gifbuild.html)

I'm by no means an expert, but I would probably save them to your computer as jpg and then have your photo editor save them as gif. What I did for my avatar is took my favorite photo, cropped it so I just had Jonah's face & resized to very tiny (2.5 X 2.5 inch) in gif format.

Hope that helps!
