Most Popular Dogs

Every eyar Lucas County relases the 10 most common registered breeds of dogs and the most popular names. I thought they were interesting. I wouldn't have thought Rotties would be so much higher then Goldens(the #2 AKC breed)

MAX--that's my parents' dog's name!! I know there are quite a few of those. I am surprised to see rotties as #2, but it is very cool, I really want one somday!! Labbies rule, I guess--they are so great!!

except for the fact that there are more and more of them in puppy mills now a' days.:(

yes, but don't these words:

10 most common registered breeds of dogs
mean that they are BREEDING that many. They may only be "popular" because these breeders are "pumping" them out. And that's what burns my butt :mad: with so many homeless! The proof is in the shelters. How many rotweilers and shepherds are in YOUR local shelter?

I wasn't trying to start anything by posting the list...These stats from from the dogs registered for licenses each year in this county. I just thought it was an intersting comparison to the AKC list... You are right, there are way to many dogs of all breeds in sheleters everywhere...and if you looked at the fact at the bottom, over 5000 dogs registered are mutt dogs (mine included), not purebreds.

I wasn't trying to START anything. But I will admit that the original post did not say registered FOR LICENSES, so I assumed it was registered BY BREEDERS (for AKC)

Just curious
(I know mine aren't one there, just wondering what is)
I'm sure Golden Retriever, Lab, Boxer, Poodle, and I can't think of what else--someone fill me in if you can please??
