NO I didn't go into work today. Dr. Sova was mad but I don't care. I still haven't gotten my car out of the snow yet. My stepfather is coming with the plow to get it out.

I said the same thing to brian this morning about an igloo, but the snow's too soft:(
So I'm stuck in the house again!! Brian went to work late.

WOW. Your cars were completely buried. We had a lot of drifting so we could at least see the back of our cars. But unfortunately the fronts were in a high drift.

looks like our cars, and everywhere else here!!!
We have a parking lot since we live in an apartment building, but there are many cars still buried out there. My husband got the plow from work last night, and plowed out our building's area (the neighbors LOVE him now), but it snowed a little more last night:rolleyes:
We also had to dig out my mother-in-law's house, she's in Allentown, and wouldn't be able to get in if she ever makes it home!!!

I thought of you when I heard how hard NJ got hit. Yikes! We got sooo little compared to you. There might be three inches out there. We just got the lovely sleet/ice. I wish we would get tons of snow!

OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!!!!!! That is *SO* COOL! I WANT SNOW! I WANT SNOW! I WANT SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were watching the news yesterday and when they showed pics on NJ, I told my Dad "OMG, if only we could get all that snow! That would be my dream come true!!!!!" He said, " NO WAY! I've lived in Minnesota and I KNOW what that kind of snow is! Its awful! I would NEVER want to live in such a place again! " I'm STILL jealous. I want to see my city, my house, my car, all under a white blanket like that! It would be so cool! Today the temperature here is 55, and I'm so cold. :p Well, that's cause I have the window open. I'm going to close it. :D My dad says snow is fun when we go for vacation for 2 days or a week, but he says living in THAT MUCH snow is a nightmare! I'm STILL jealous! "sigh" Mind sending me some of your snow? ;)

Wow!

What if it snows for days and you can't get to work? Do you just keep shovelling and shovelling your way out, or just hope no one else can get to work or to appointments and stay home to make yourself a hot chocolate? :)

I've only ever seen snow once so this is all very fascinating!

when i need to 'experience' snow i go to the neighbor's house and move the switch on the fridge from 'cube' to 'crushed'....
i was wondering why it never snows in the southern hemisphere...time for an experiment!!!! i took our the globe into the kitchen and poured flour over it.........aha!.........

kidding-i hope you get the experience of being around when it
falls..........actually there are some terrifyingly exciting things to do.....one is drive! there is a condition called 'black ice" a puddle will freeze on the asphalt and when you hit it....wwwwwhhhheeeeee.....it's the time that the hospitals get the most heart attack victims! people go to shovel snow and blow
the ol' pump out.....water freezes on the limbs of trees and power lines...........the weight collapses them....no power until the
local power company comes out........the worst part is hearing the report of the elderly that freeze because of the lack of heat in their homes....:(

I think I'll pass on the snow, heart attacks and black ice for now! Please don't give up your job for a career in tourism :D

SOME snow is fun- but when i see those poor people back east
shoveling and driving it makes me feel a tad bit humble.......
in california we only get snow when we want it........of course it depends on which movie studio is filming what.....:)

yes but in Caly you end up with mudslides, torrential rains, wild fires, and earthquakes.....hmmmm...I think I'll take the snow.

My first husband was French and had grown up in Morocco. So he was not used to snow and could not slide on the ice. He absolutely hated it. Of course he was much more endangered to fall than anyone else.

Regarding all of us it looks as if the snowy people are envying Popcornbird and Amberlee for their cherry blossoms and they are envying us for not being able to go to work. We have lots of snow here at the moment (though not like NJ) and sun all over. That's the best time. It should keep over the weekend and if it does I'll go skating on our moor lakes around.:)

I agree , it looks very romantic & beautiful ; but it surely has lots of negative sides too ...! How was traffic then ? Was it possible to drive , or were all roads covered too ???

neko1
02-20-2003, 05:49 AM
As of yesterday, the roads were still a mess, but because we got above freezing and the sun was out, it melted a lot of stuff on the road. We are supposed to get a bunch of rain tomorrow, so in addition to the snow, we'll have a ton of flooding, yeah!!! I'm going to work today. The roads should be ok.
There have been, I think, at least 4 deaths in the NJ/NY area. One from a roof collapse, one woman was found in a snowbank completely covered for over 10 hours, and the other 2 failed to clean their car's tailpipes and when they got in their already running cars, they were killed from the carbon monoxide. Snow is dangerous and I hate it!
