My kitten Hayley goes through a lot of Cat Dancers. Do anyone else have this problem? She loves it. She plays with it by herself a lot of the time. Putting one end in her mouth and going after the other end. I wonder do she realize she can't catch it that way?

OK i sound stupid but refresh my memory of what a cat dancer is. Is it one of those strings on a stick (like a fishing rod?). If so, my cats go nuts for those. I call it cat fishing. Sometimes they like to bite the string part which forces me to buy another one, but I know they sell replacement feather heads.

Joxer does this too:D We put his away and just take it out occasionally so that he doesn't wear it out. How old is Hayley? Joxer doesn't play with his as much now as when he was younger so Hayley might start playing with it less as she gets older.

Isn't it the funniest thing ever? No other cat in my house plays with it this way. It is really his special toy. He knows the sound of the closet door where I hide it and comes running when the door opens.

A cat dancer is a stiff piece of wire with little cardboard pieces on the end. One rolled up piece on one end, and 3 or 4 rolled up pieces on the other end. I keep ours coiled up when it's put away, so it's nice and bouncy when I bring it out. Terry will only let me play with it and Tubby for a little while because he says Tubby is old and can't handle all that excitement. I think it's good for Tubby to be getting the excecise and to be excited about something for a bit. :)

I cannot make my mind work and imagine how this Cat Dancer looks. Anyone has a picture?

A 'Cat Dancer" is a piano wire with tightly rolled up cardboard on the ends and a few that can freely move from one end to the other.

Thank you HayleyRosie. It's a lot of fun, I think, to play with it.

Jonah LOVES playing with the cat dancer. We do through a lot of them too. Good thing they're relatively cheap!!

It's great cause he gets tired pretty quickly from playing with it.

Here's Jonah all tuckered out!

Gorgeous CAT! WOW what breed is Jonah?

I don't think cat dancers are available in Australia but Fish on a String is!

Quote from Cat Angling Monthly;

"Angling for the illusive pink aby - diamond in the rough of the cat world - is a lot of fun. Takes no patience what so ever! They have an unusual mastery of the holding on for grim death. Agility and muscles are required.

I suggest using the catnip filled fish as a lure ....

Warning: These cats of the carpet sea are not for eating..."

Oh, such happy memories! Cassy and Livvy love their Cat Dancers, but Sassy LOVED this toy... Isn't it amazing how they each have their favorite activities?

Jonah is a Bengal kitty. Click here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20420&highlight=julijul) to go to Julijul's introduction post and see more pictures of her two beauties.

They really are beautiful, and look so soft and cuddly. And Jonah does look like he's all tuckered out. Awwwww.....;) :)

It is supposed to simulate a moth. Muskrat goes bonkers over this toy; in fact, I had to buy another one due to wear and tear, because she loves it so much! My other cats aren't as intrigued.

After looking over the "cat dancer" toy, I am wondering if some clothes pins on a piano wire would also allow the same action? I have clothes pins, but I do not have any stiff wire.
