what deluxe accomondations! And they all look so cute, together in the hammock.
Though I do have a question, though. Is it OK for rats to live on a wire floor like that? (I have no rat knowledge)

The wire can only be so big or they will get there feet cought in it. I forget the dimations but Luckies4me told me the demisions and before the rats went in there I messured it to make sure and it was the right size. Also, I make sure that they have a place to allow there feet to rest, there hamock, there wrestling box, places like that.

Glad you like it! I know they do! They will empty there food dish and then throw it down both the ramps to wake me up[ to give them more food, boy do they have me trained :D

ps: Sorry about the yellow on the hamock. I hadn't washed it yet.

If they walk on wire too much they get huge blisters on their feet (bumblefoot), and wire is uncomfortable for them to walk on. They also can rip toes and toenails off also.

Actually new research has shown that bumblefoot is caused by genetics in rats. So if your rat is predisposed to the condition, even if kept on solid flooring they can still develope it.

Wire floor is safe, as long as it is a safe bar spacing such as 1/2 inch for older ratties and 1/4 inch for kittens/does.

BTW A&M: I LOVE your American blue and balzed ratties...also that looks like a chocolate on the left! Sooo jealous lol!

Oops forgot to say that they should still have something more solid to walk on or their feeties will start hurting, perhaps a brick (good for keeping toenails down) or you can lay down some towels, as long as they aren't ones that the rats can snag toes in.

My mom and I HATE to see animals in small cages, so we wanted to get them a large cage. It was on sale for $169. I have seen the same ones selling for $280 in pet stores. We got it off of The Ferret Store (http://theferretstore.com) I suggest everyone goes to that sight. I love it...good prices, good quality, free shiping on items $25 up. They have supplies for dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, rats, monkeys (I think), you name it. It is a wonderful sight!!

I like that site too!!!!

A&M: What type of cage is that? Who is it made by? Both of you have wonderful cages! YLL: I like Superpet cages but WOW are they TALL! Since I get no help cleaning and I have a lot of cages I stick to Martins cages. You guys both have very nice cages. When I buy a house I will be making a seperate room for the ratties...so they won't need a cage, hehe. I got the idea from a Petsmart in California.
