chinese crested?

last night i was watching the eukuneuba(sp?) dog show and noticed the chinese crested dog. if anyone knows, can you please tell me if these dogs really have just some hair at the top, around the legs and on the tail, or is that only for show? just curious...thanks! :)

There are two types of Chinese crested, hairless which has some hair on the head, feet, tail and chest, and the Powderpuff which actaully does have hair. One of our trainers has a hairless crested, and he is just too cute!!!

And...did you know, that Crested's sweat through their skin instead of pant!!!! That's kinda cool & weird. :eek: :eek:

anyway I think chinese crested are special, especially the hairless ones. They do need special cream for their skin to avoid sunburn just like us human :)

They are a Mexican hairless breed. They are larger than Chinese Cresteds.

oops sorry i never knew u asked that...yellowlablover is right, they r mexican hairlesses....also known as xolos, but i like to use the whole word cuz it sounds cool lol

the crested have 2 styles one is the powder puff hair all over the body looks like just what they call it a powder puff then theres the hairless they have hair on their heads tail and legs some will have a few strands on the body the hairless have to use sun screen in the summer as they will sunburn they will get black heads in their pores and some have skin problems you can breed two hairless and get a powder puff in the litter. a friend of mine ownes 5 of them they are really neat little dogs used in obe training and agility great little therpy dogs. one of hers is a sevice dog he goes everywhere with her. hope this answers your question. they are really neat. :) :)

Why do you always have to question someone for not liking a breed of dog?? If somebody does like a dog breed, the don't like it. They don't have to love every breed out there. I don't that's for sure.

I personally think they are kind of cute at a glance- it would take me a while to get used to them though.

i would never want to own one either. Something about a naked dog, lol. No but really all there special needs, like They need a coat in the winter, well that would be kinda fun. And sun tan loton in the summer, like when you go to the beach you can put it on both you and the dog, O ok I want one now! Seesh, I want to make dogs :rolleyes:

I look more for personality then looks but I like the style of akitas they are soo beautifull and these dogs are cute.. Every dog has a different look and thats what makes them special :)

They really are all so cute. The one with hair is adorable. I don't think I have ever seen an ugly dog. Just look in their eyes and they are all very special. I have seen some that looked bad from being homeless, but that is where a bath comes in:)

We have three hairless cresteds. People always think they are weird looking when they see pictures, but fall in love when they meet them. I've had people ask to take pictures with them. One time in the park a wedding party asked if the bride and groom could each hold one and have a shot taken. Another time, a modeling shoot was going on in the street, and the photographer asked if the model could hold them for a couple of shots. They are great little whirlwinds, love to play, love to snuggle, and fun to pet. And they're tough. They'll shoo my rott away from his dinner(well, Danz is a bit of a puff).

I don't know why so many people think cresteds are ugly. The powder puffs are just furry little dogs. Maybe the hairless ones aren't for everyone, but even if you have to put sunscreen on, that is about the same commitment as brushing a really furry dog every day. They have wonderful personalities. Mine is 4 and people still think she is a puppy. She would never hurt anyone. She is a clowny big dog personality contained in a small cute little dog. I think if more people were familiar with this breed, it would be more popular.

I think that chinese cresteds are so cute! :) My grandma would really like to own one one day...she also wants a skinny pig lol...guess shes a sucker for the things with less hair:rolleyes: ;)

i think both coats are magnificent! that breed has always interested me. i love when they're in motion, their fur just 'flows.'
