The minutes are counting down to Graham coming to visit. We are all so excited that we had to compose a little ditty in honor of the occasion. I hope you will recognize the tune.

We love you Graham
Please come and stay
for the weekend
on Memorial Day.

You are a sweeheart.
We know that well
from all the stories
Adore does tell.

You have a sister
her name is Cass.
She is a little
Puglet lass.

She won't be coming.
But that's okay.
It's just the Graham
for Memorial Day.

Hannah & Tucker
will love you too,
but might be a little
jealous of you.

They'll sniff and smell
your nose and tail
Oh, please be patient
Don't whine or wail.

Your mom must leave you
for just a bit.
But you've got Rachel
to doggie sit.

She thinks you're pretty.
She thinks you're smart.
But if you don't like her,
Just please don't dart

Out into traffic
or run away.
For you are Graham
our guest, hurray!

We want you here to
have some fun
and let your mommie
to Chicago run

for just a weekend.
It won't be long.
And this dear Graham
will be your song.

Rachel you have some real talent there! I am sure that Hannah and Tucker will point out the neatest places in the yard to smell and, oh boy, he'll just having so much fun romping and playing while Aunt Rachel clicks away with her camera. It sounds like he is going to have a "doggone" good time. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

According to the original post, the dates for the sleepover were June 2nd and 3rd. Have the dates changed or was "Memorial Day" used for poetic license? Also, may I have a hint about the tune?

Hi my pet talking friends http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Yeaaaaaah, I am so excited! I have all of Graham's stuff (and my stuff also) packed away and ready to hit the road. Rachel, you are great and I am excited to be able to meet you and meet those adorable pups of yours http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif Yes the dates were changed. My work wanted me to work on Tuesday and Wednesday after Memorial day so I am leaving tomorrow (have a 1/2 day at work) going to go to my moms house to pick her up (she's coming with me) driving to Elk Grove, IL, will stay the night tomorrow (Friday) and head off to Rachels with Graham so we can see Chicago on Sat, Sun. & part of Memorial day Mon. Then I'll pick him up some time on Monday and he'll be there to keep my mom company while she's alone in the hotel. I will miss Graham, I always do when I am away from him, but he'll be in good hands while we are discovering downtown Chicago http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif I feel honored to be able to meet a pet talker. Maybe at some point I can meet more pet talkers http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Rachel, that's a super-duper cute poem http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif It is so thoughtful and fun http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif I told Graham that he's going to be staying with a great lady and she is really good at taking cute pictures. He told me to make sure I pack all of his cute stuff in case you snapped some shots of him http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

For all that did not know where Cassie will be staying, there's a neighbor who loves her to pieces and she begged us to leave Cassie with her if there was ever a need. She's very excited to be watching Cassie for 6 days.

You guys are going to have so much fun. We want to go to Aunt Rachel's house too! But we think a poodle, a moody cat, a flea bitten kitten, an abused puppy, and their human might be overload http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif Guess we'll settle for pics http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Graham is the most perfect house guest. He is calm, obedient, and oh, so loving, and he came bearing a very special hostess gift of home made doggie carrot cakes. One thing that doesn't show in his pictures that well is his beautiful coat. It is wonderfully shiney and doesn't seem to shed much at all. He is like a bright penny. Leslie brought his food, toys, supplements and everything else he would possibly need. If ever a dog is cared for, this is the one.

When Tucker first saw Graham, he had a fit. So I put him outside and let him watch the action indoors through the screen door. After a few minutes observing, he realized that Graham was not a threat and calmed down. Everybody is now getting along famously, but it is Tucker and Graham who have become best buds and did some fun and games playing with one another. Hannah is resigned to having a house guest, but whenever they all go out she doesn't want Graham to come back in the house. A little routine she has tried using on her own brother, and which doesn't work.

Day Two of Graham and the gang. When Leslie and her mom (exceptionally nice people - but you already knew that) left on Saturday, Graham whined and kind of looked for them a little. After a day in Chicago, they (Leslie & Mom) came back to pick up their car and head back for Elk Grove. My husband and I got to spend some time with them and Graham was soo pleased to see his folks. When they left for the evening, he didn't even whine. I guess he figured that since they came back once, they'd know enough to come back again. There not being enough room on the Big Bed for one more, I showed Graham a nice large doggie bed in our bedroom and he went right to sleep. In the middle of the night, I guess he figured that they should have come back by now and he got a little restless. A quick trip outside, a few snackies and I put the doggie bed right next to my side of the bed so he would be a little closer to the pack. I could still hear him walking around for a bit. In the morning, my husband told me that Graham finally settled in on his side of the bed sleeping on one of our bed pillows that had been tossed off the bed. I shouldn't be surprised at that one! Tonight the doggie bed will be moved to its selected location. Yesterday it rained all day and was so cold we didn't get to do much outside except "our business". Today it is sunny and seems to be warming up. I think this will make a more pleasant day in Chicago for Leslie and her mom as well. This morning I had the joy of grooming a dog who enjoys being groomed and it wasn't Hannah or Tucker! Stay tuned for more pictures.

Rachel...Is Graham eating OK? A couple of years ago I "doggie-sat" for a friend who went to Williamsburg, Va. for a week. The first few days Boots wouldn't eat at all. I was almost in a panic. It was the saddest thing. She was really pining. I know sometimes doggies lose their appetite when they miss their people. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/frown.gif It doesn't sound like Graham is overly worried, but then again with such wonderful hosts, like Hannah and Tucker, how could he be!!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Pam in answer to your question, Graham is eating pretty well, ate half his food in the morning yesterday and graciously accepted hand feeding for the remainder in the afternoon. This morning I added a little warm water to his krunchies (to release the aroma) and that did the trick, he ate the whole bowl.

Last night he was very appreciative that the doggie bed was placed in the location he designated, right next to my husband's side of the bed. We did have some cuddle time on the Big Bed before going to sleep and in the morning, although he and Tucker seem to favor the same spot so we were one tightly bunched up group on the left side with Dad and Hannah on the right side.

Graham has assumed the job of perimeter parole for the back yard, so I am sure that we are safe from invading squirrels or bunnies at least while he is on duty.

Tucker has really taken to having an older guy to look up to, and was very impressed with how Graham relieves himself with one leg lifted. So I think I may have lost my squatting girly boy.

We haven't gone to the park or done anything special, mainly because I am soo paranoid that nothing bad will happen to this precious baby in my care. So I'm not taking any chances, just staying close to home. Today is Graham's last day. His Mom and Grandmom will be picking him up this evening and heading back to their hotel.

Graham is one extraordinary dog. You know how we always talk about how we want to hug and kiss and cuddle the Dogs of the Day. I have had the opportunity to do all of that with Graham. He is just so amenable to it all and so sweet and clean. His paws are perfection with toenails clipped just right, and he has the most beautiful shiney copper and chocolate color coat. I hope someday some of the rest of you will get to meet this sweet guy.

Rachel, those photos are priceless. I'm awed by the photography, the comments and the sweet babies who posed so wonderfully. I can't believe how great they all get along.
I have always thought Hannah and Tucker were so special and now I can see Graham is too.
I just wish my babies would get along with other dogs like that, but I guess that's the price I have to pay to have the terrier terrors. Wonderful photos to have as a keepsake.

I actually was depressed when Leslie called to say they would be on their way to pick Graham up last night. He really is a marvel of a dog. I have a few more pictures (if you can stand it), but do not have them up yet.

Thank all of you for your kind comments on this topic. They are all very appreciated, believe me. It was fun to share my excitement of this special visit with all of you. For those who asked about the tune that the song is sung to, I don't know the words to it myself other than I think it starts out the same...We love you ______,

Pam

Well I am back at work in MI now. Graham had a great time with Rachel, he was even showing signs of being depressed when I picked him up after 2 nights with Rachel and her gang. She was so good to him. Kasey, her hubby, was so sweet also. Great family. Hannah & Tucker were ADORABLE!!! They were so sweet. Hannah had the butt wiggles and she loved to give kisses. Tucker was just oozing with love, he got right in our faces and demanded loving and kissing and he was a pleasure. They were both SO sweet and friendly and loving. And Rachel's house is SO beautiful! And what a lovely neighborhood with lovely houses. I had a great time in Chicago even though it rained ALOT. I was so glad to have had such a good temperary home for Graham and that he was loved. And it was wonderful meeting Rachel, her hubby, & her furkids. What incredibly sweet family they were.

I was delighted to have seen Grahams new albums. He looked right at home on all of the furniture http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif I know he enjoyed his stay. He even played with Tucker and that's great, he rarely plays with dogs so that was nice to hear about. I know he liked it, he is not real happy with Cassie being his sister and he is always happy to have a dog that he enjoys being around. Him and Cassie still don't give a hoot about each other.

I thank everyone for all of the comments. It means alot to me. It's great to be able to share Graham and get such positive feedback.
