Okay, here's the story. On thursday night, around 8:00, Nikki was playing with her squeaky submarine sandwich and my brother told my mom to hide it from her because he was watching TV. So my mom put this toy in the coat closet inside of a box while Nikki was watching. She told Nikki, "No more. Go lay down." So Nikki goes to lay down and she slept the whole night. The next morning after she had been fed and played with, she goes over to the closed coat closet and starts whining. My mom, having forgotten about putting the toy in the closet, starts pulling out coats thinking that she wants to chew on one of them or something. But Nikki kept whining. Finally mom remembered about the toy. She pulled it out and Nikki jumped on her, grabbed it, and ran away! Can you belive she remember where it was for over 12 hours? Well, its not THAT amazing, just wanted to share it with you!

Yes, I agree with you that Nikki must be incredibly smart to hold onto that memory for so long. That's a great story! I'll bet there's quite a few good stories you could tell about your smart dog.

Hannah does the same thing, she will be pawing at the closet door and I tell her, Hannah there is nothing in there for you, but she will keep at it, so I will go open the door to show her and then I realize that the coat I had been wearing the day before has in the pocket her kong. (I actually think she can smell her kong.)

We live in California and it is usually warm most of the year, however the last couple of months have been cold, sometimes 46 in the morning and Miss Daisy does not like the cold. She found that our back door is somewhat lose in that it wabbles back and forth. At first we thought it was someone knocking on the door, so went to see and found that Daisy has figured out hitting the door with her paw will make me come to the door and let her and Perry in. This is not a light knocking, it sounds like the door is caving in. It gives us a good laugh every morning. I think that is pretty smart.

You think 46 is cold? LOL well we live in Massachusetts and 46 would be quite a treat right now. Our Daisy also has her own way of telling us when she wants to come in. I am constantly on this computer that is next to a window facing the porch. Under the window are a bunch of wicker chairs we sit in during the summer. Daisy has found that by jumping on a chair and howling while slamming her nose and paws into the window will get my attention fast! It's so adorable to look out the window and see those big droopy brown eyes staring at me through a wet smudgy window!!! Aren't dogs just the smartest creatures?

Just as was reading this post, my daughter Kelsey was running through the house with Jeffrey chasing her. (She sneaked and got a piece of chocolate and is now VERY hyper. Someone help me, PLEASE! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif )She was running in a circle, from the living room, down the hall, into the kitchen, into the dining room back into the living room over and over. As she came in the dining room she looked behind for Jeffrey. She turn to go into the living room and Jeffrey BOUNCED out from the hallway. He had doubled back and met her. Now that's a smart dog!

Boxerlover, Nikki's better than me. Every morning I have to search for my car keys. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Daisy's Mom,

That scenerio (with Daisy on the wicker chair looking in the window) is so adorable. I can picture it exactly and then have to smile, no laugh http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif. What a smart and funny girl she is.
