Do you act or do something silly when with your pets? My friends think I'm nuts because whenever I'm preparing my dogs' meals I do a Julia Child impression. You know, "Here we have lovely lamb and rice crunchy bits to which I will add a deliciously aromatic canned lamb and rice. Just smell that aroma! WOOOnderful!". Of course the dogs are at my feet going nuts. Then there's what my daughter calls the "Demented Mom" voice. That's when I'm on the floor wrestling and playing with the dogs. If you can picture a grown woman shreiking "Yes, I love Mommie's boys. Yes, I do! Kiss, kiss!" As I said my friends think I have lost my mind. I think I pretty normal but was wondering if any of you did silly things with your pets. Please don't tell me I really am insane! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Count me in as a looney too Genia!!!! When I treat my kitties to canned food I read the label to them so they know what they are getting for example... "now tonight you are having ocean fish with shrimp, etc." Then I sort of sing this little rhyme to them "yummy, yummy, yummy, down in kitties' tummy!"

You should put your post in Cat General or Pet General too!!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

dn't worry your not crazy, well you are sort of are that is dog CRAZY.
Whenn I came home from school the first ting I do is flop onto the couch so my dogs can jump on me and give doggy kisses hello. All the while I'm saying "how are my doggies, mommy loves you guys" "you are soo cute"
then when I come back to reality I look over and my mom is staring at me like I've lost my mind! but I don't care

Genia:
Rest assured - even if you are crazy, you're in good company! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif In fact, when I read your post, I could have sworn that I wrote it! When my husband and I first got married, he was extremely jealous of all the attention the dogs got. Now he is just as bad as I am. If I'm not looking or he thinks I'm in another room, I hear him talking to the dogs like they're our kids. Cracks me up! I have to confess that when I leave for work every morning, I have to tell both of them, "Mommy loves you guys!"

Whew! Sure am glad that there are others like me out there! I'll be talking to my daughter and say something like, "I told Honey she better quit rolling in the dirt", and Helen just cracks up and asks me what Honey said back. I do this so often that she just starts cracking up when I start talking about it.
I am here alone, working all day, so I spend a lot of time talking to all the animals!! So far they haven't answered with anything but meows and wagging tails, but one day....

When entering the house, I am greeted by a curly Q, twisted tail pugletts girl, and a stubble tail baby boy who's stubble goes a zillion, kagillion kamillion miles per hour! I can't quitely say hi to the furkids. I get so excited and crazy, I usually have a sore throat from so much high pitch and loud words. The first thing I do is throw my arms out high in the air and say (much too loudly) HEY....HOW ARE MY BOYZEES AND GIRLZEES (boys and girls). GWAHAM, HOW'S MY GOO PUPPIES (good puppy), HEY, WHERE'S YOUR CUTE STUFF....OH THERE IT IS, YOU ARE SO FULL OF CUTE STUFF THAT YOU OVERFLOW WITH CUTE STUFF!!! OH GWAHAM, OH GWAHAM, HOW MUCH CUTE STUFF COULD YOU POSSIBLY HAVE ALL PACKED INSIDE OF YOU? HI ANGEL, ANGEL, ANGEL, ANGEL, ANGEL, ANGEL. HEY PUGGELETTS, HOW'S MY WITTOW (little) ITTY, BITTY, TEENIE, WEENIE, BEANIE, ITTTY BITTY PUGGELETTS? HEY WITTOW GIRL, HEY BITTY, BABY, ITTY BITTY GIRL. HEY SMASHES, SMASHES, SMASHES, SMASHES, SMASHES, SMASHES. HEY WHO WANTS TO GOOUTSIDE??? DO YOU WANNA, WANNA, WANNA, WANNA, WANNA GO OUTSIDE 'A GOPEEEE?

I know, I am a major nut! But, heck, my dogs adore me to pieces and that's what really matters http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Ok, here is my confession:
When I come home, I say "Where's my little pretty baby girl?" or "Where's my fancy face?"
And before I leave I always say "Bye baby girl!"
I also have a rule that when and if I ever find my significant other, he has to like my dog, b/c she is the princess of the house!

Oh!? You mean like Frito feet confessions? And face smooshing and wrestling and bear hugging and "pumpkin pie, babycakes, honey bear, sweet potata, sweetie face, baby boo"..etc, etc?? GUILTY!!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif AND MIDDLE AGED!!!!!!!

At 8 pm the dogs go outside for the last time for the night. When they come back in everything is calm and quiet as they wait...........then shattering the peaceful surroundings....I throw up my arms into the air and (in that high pitched, high volume voice Adore was talking about) say:
IT'S NIGHTY COOKIE TIME!
IT'S NIGHTY COOKIE TIME!
To which the club members (I can't say girls or boys since I have one of each - so club members is short for "Boys and Girls Club") respond by jumps of joy and racing into the kitchen where the nighty cookies (Bonz) are kept. It is a strange scene and Karen is right, the middle-aged part makes is all the more bizarre, but the three of us are in our element. My husband just shakes his head.

I make up songs to sing to my kids. I tell them I need a doggy hug and kiss, a Mommy can never have too many doggy hugs and kisses. I talk baby talk to them. I help them go through their three toy boxes to find just the right toy to play with. I am always clowning around with them. My husband just shakes his head and laughs at me. I catch him talking baby talk to his little girl too.

I used to sing the song, "Edelweis" (from The Sound of Music) to my Great Pyrenees and change the word "edelweis" to Avalanche (her name).

Avalanche, Avalanche, every morning you greet me
Big and white, clean and bright, you look happy to meet me
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever
Avalanche, Avalanche, bless my doggie forever....

She's been at Rainbow Bridge for 4 years now. I still miss her. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/frown.gif

Ok confesstion time. Merlin was gotten for me so I wouldn't get empty nest feelings(smart hubby) Merlin gets away with much more than the kids ever did(makes them a little upset) Hubby says I spoil him (true) but as he (hubby)was recoveing from cancer surgury ,I would come home and have to see the newest trick we had learned to day. Merlin is 4 years old and only been alone for more than 4 hours one time.He his the combination of suls of two of my previous dogs, I see them in him , I saw it as soon as I saw him at the breeders home. So I get the best of all my worlds.

Of course I do. How can you love your dog and not be silly with it? Actually, I think the people that don't should 'fess up! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

I think everyone who has a dog will be guilty of such behavior. I will talk to them, sing to them and watch tv or movie with them. Sometimes I think that one of them, Donna, really knows what's going on in the movie, she will get all excited and her heart racing when the story gets exciting. They are really my 3 little babies. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I'm with karen israel on this. I astound myself with the names I come up with for our pets as I talk to them. My precious Dan Dan (to our male sheltie), duck face (to a pretty tibetan spaniel), noisy horse (to our large sheltie), timbleboots (to the cat). Even I don't know where these names (& much more) bubble up from. Well, if this is lunacy...then I & all the other people 'fessing up are very happy lunatics.

I feel blessed being in such good "insane" company!!! How lucky and special we are that we can enjoy our pups so thoroughly and innocently despite what other say! If it makes us feel fantastic..GO FOR IT!! My brother, who could have cared less 9 yrs ago, calls Cody "My little Man' and sneaks in a hug and kiss! And would kill me if he knew I mentioned it! It's contagious! LOL http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

O.K. I confess, we call Daisy and Perry our babies. Perry gives kisses with a flick of the tongue, you have to be fast not to get it on the lips. I think Daisy is so tired of me kissing her, she hides under the coffee table. They each have a stuffed rabbit that is their night, night. Perry takes his night night in his house at night and Daisy takes hers up to our room. The first thing I have to do is let her look out the window, then next she lies on the bed and I give her a massage. After that I warm up her pillow, play catch me under the blanket and then she curls up to go to sleep. In the morning, we sit and have our coffee and its cold outside so Daisy bangs on the back door so we will let her and Perry in. They do their tricks??for a snack, sit up, lie down and shake hands. Then we really start our day.

Hannah likes her massage in the morning. She is Miss Independent until she wants her massage, then she is right by me pushing as close as she can get.

Rachel: Hanna is so beautiful, I can see why you love her so much, Tucker is a sweetheart, plus I love his name, somehow it seems to fit.

When I get home my puppy Poco is just as excited as I am, maybe alot more. She jumps as high as my stomach, and she is 10 inches tall, and she jumps like 10 times in a row, and whines and talks to me and races around the house and then she throws herself on her belly and begs for a belly rub. All the while Im like
"POKEY POKEY POOOO!!! EEEE HAY GURLYGIRL!!!
HOWZAMEES PREETY POOPY!! WIJIWIJIWIJIWIJIWIJI!! POOZEEPOOPYGRL! POCOBELLY?? POCOPOCOPOCOOOOO! POCOBELLY!
GOOJEEPUPPEEJEE!! EEEEEEEEHEEHEEHEE!!!" and so on. It is perfectly normal, because if you teach your dog a trick, then they understand a little bit of our language. If you don't talk to them they might get depressed or something. By the way im only a freshman, so you middle-aged women can know that everyone does it. My best friend is the same w/her dog.

Daisy's Mom
02-03-2001, 11:19 AM
If you're all crazy then you can count me in. Every day when I walk home from my bus stop Daisy is outside waiting for me on the porch. When I reach my neighbor's house I start screeching in the most annoying voice imaginable, "DAAAAAAAAAAISYYYYYYY!!! WHERE'S MOMMY'S LITTLE ROO ROO? MASHA DOON (whatcha doing), BABY?" The neighbors all look out their windows at me as I am screeching this. Then she comes bounding down the steps and I flop over into the yard, even if its full of snow, still screeching and getting puppy kisses! My aunt who is a non-dog lover thinks I am crazy to let Daisy kiss my face but she's my baby! And the fact that Daze sleeps under the blankets with me with her head on my pillow appalls her. Ah yes and the nicknames... who knows where they come from. I have no idea how Daisy has changed into Bubboo Gizzooz (Puppy Kisses) and Roo (her howl). My mom doesn't like the names and says that we should always call her Daisy because it is a beautiful name for a beautiful dog!

When I'm out in the back yard with the dogs I am steady talking to them which includes asking them questions, for instance "Are you ready to go in yet? Did you go potty? Where did you make the stinkies? Don't you want to go chase the kong with Hannah, Tucker?" Now we live in a quiet neighborhood and so the sound of a voice can be heard by the neighbors if they happen to have a window open or are outside themselves. I wonder if they ever think I have completely lost my marbles.
