I've been shopping around for an extra large wire dog crate (just in case a certain dog named Canuck is in my near future :D). The ones that I've been finding have been around $250. I was hoping to spend under $200. Does anyone know a place to look where they may be a bit cheaper?

OH! I just found some for $150 on the Drs Foster and Smith website. I'd still like to hear suggestions if anyone knows of another place with nice, LAAAAARGE crates that aren't too expensive.

I don't know how big ya need but check out The Ferret Store (http://www.ferretstore.com/) . (They have dog stuff too!)

I've never ordered from them but I *think* they are affiliated with www.PetDiscounters.com . (and I have ordered from them--good service! Didn't see any dog crates tho. )

I would look at 2nd hand stores...we've gotten a couple of cages at one here. Also, I'd be scouring the classified ads. Even put a "wanted" ad in.

We looked at Xtra large wire crates at Super Petz and the cheapest we found was $129, I didn't think that was too awful bad.

Tonya - I LOVE that pet doscounters site. That was the first place I checked but they don't carry crates... boohoo!

Thanks everyone else for the links and advice. I'll go check them out!!

I would like one of the biggest sizes even though Canuck is just 60 lbs. I'd like him to have a bunch of 'elbow' room.

We just got our crate for DJ a week ago, 48 long x 30 wide x 36 deep. We got it from ebay for $96 total, crate about $68, the remainder tax and shipping (US postal). They were really nice, since we got it for a foster, they shipped UPS no extra charge.

Attached is a picture called "Crate Train". The crate on the right is Ginger's, the middle is the one used for Asgrim, the one on the left is being used by DJ.

I have seen some at our local Thrift Stores. I bought Lucy Tu a smaller crate in mint condition for only $5 at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Also check the classifieds in the Garage Sale section.

Aly,
This is the description of the crates I got for my dogs. This is about the cheapest I have found. The website is JBPet.com. The nice thing is it can be partitioned off if you need it for a smaller dog in the future. I use this when they are pups.
