Twas the Thursday before Christmas
and all thru the bar
The patron's came flocking by computer, by car?

Santa was napping, feet on the couch
"I am relaxing!" he said from his slouch
I have been working - for years it does seem?
One more week and I'll be driving my team

Of reindeer and sleigh, filled to the brim
of toy and presents for her and for him!
For kitties and puppies, large ones and small
For the adults too, but that is not all!

Bones and chew toys, balls and maybe a slipper?
Or how's bout some snacks for the pets who have flippers?
Furry and hairless, skin and there are scales!
Hoofs and paws, fingers and nails?

Everyone in, the fire is going
Said Mr Claus, all watching, all knowing
I so have some treats, cookies, chewies and snacks
Everyone gets one, please don't attack!

For the hoomans there's food and maybe a drink?
And some holiday cheer, he said with a wink!
Some mulled and some hot, some served with some ice
Just ask the 'tender, he'll treat you nice.

From the tables to the porch, to the lost and found.
The mirth in the bar, does know no bounds.
So please have a seat, in front or in back!
The wait staff here will treat you with tact!

So, come on in, please grab a chair
Order a drink and then, if you dare?
Take a moment and believe
that magic does happen before Christmas eve!!

T'was the week before Christmas
And all through the place
Angel was wagging, a smile of her face
Why, you ask nicely, is she filled with such glee
She heard someone say the angel
Goes on top of the tree!

I'll try to explain that no fir tree could stand
With a wiggle pup on top, in this or any land
Forty pounds of muscle is simply too much!
We'll put a star up there instead, dear
And as compensation for dashed hope
We'll set the Orc to playing tug with you
With a green and red rope!

Take a bow RICHARD - that was great. You have written some excellent ones that I have had the pleasure of reading over the years. Ever think of putting them all together for your PT admirers???

Here is a toast to you - whatever is your poison. :) I think I'll sit here by the fire with a champagne cocktail and reminisce of days gone by.....

Richard and Karen, I give you a standing ovation. Fabulous!! Just fabulous! I'll take a seat over here and say a small toast to my dear departed sister who would have been 45 today. How about a round of Deck the Halls?

Feel better Karen - this house is still germ laden. Hope everything clears out by Christmas.......the germs I mean - not the people.

And sooooo sorry - I didn't intend to slight you in the poem acknowledgement department. You have quite a talent also. All I was ever able to do, was to help The Fuzzbuttz with their drama stories. Guess my talent is more on the comedy side.

And a toast to my dear departed Dad, who was born on this day many years ago -- 12/19/1903. He wasn't much of a drinker, but during the holidays there was always Port and Muscatel wines in the house. Yuk to both - I'll settle in with another champagne cocktail later. :D
