At least I HOPE it's a translation failure.

I was looking for a tortilla press, just for the heck of it. We like Quesadillas, enchiladas, etc, and I really hate store bought packaged products.

While looking on Amazon, I found This:

Made out of Cast Iron.
Measures approx. 7.5" in diameter.
Authentic. Made in Mexico.
Hand Wash Only.
Hand made from Mexican Artisans.

Ummmmm I hope they have a large supply of artisans. How many tortilla presses can you make out of one artisan?

There's a great Cheezburger network site called "Engrish" which has all kinds of mangled signs and directions.;)

LOL, The 'Mex-pert'?

A tortilla press is a funny thing.

When you see one in a store, you would probably decide not to buy one.

They are made from a kind of sand casting and very 'rough' looking. They don't have the polished look that an American made TP would have.
To me? That is part of their charm.

If you want to see some mindblowing hand made tortilla making? do a YouTube search - Hand made tortilla making.

Those are some talented hands!

Mom wasn't a fan of the tortilla press, she made them via a rolling pin....:D

I lost her rolling pin in my move, that was one thing that I really wanted to hang on to!

P.S.

If you do make home made tortillas?

Use lard and put a little bacon grease into the mix?

Good Luck!
