Computer USB ports not functioning

My computer doesn't recognize my android phone at all, even with the data cable. What's more interesting, only one of three USB ports recognizes my External Hard drive.

I'd love some help with this. I have pics on the camera phone I would love to upload.

I had a tower computer with some USB ports not working. As long as one worked, I did not bother having them repaired.

Also, for the pics on the phone, can you email them to yourself? This will at least let you get them on your computer.

I don't have a smartphone, so can't help more than this.

I can email a few, but I have a ton of pix that need to be downloaded. That will take time.
