Little Boy Blue
We have a new Neapolitan Mastiff in our rescue program. He has a partner, Pebbles, that will always have to be with him because she sees for Little Blue. See Little Blue is just about blind. He has had many eye operations and has scarring on his corneas. We are trying to raise money to get Little Blue to a Doggie Ophthalmologist, but the problem is this cost so much money. Most dog specialists will not give a discount to rescue, so we have to pay full price for these visits. The first visit for our Little Blue will at least be $250.00, and that does not include anything but the visit.

Most people would ask my why would they bother trying to help out Little Blue. Little Blue is not even a year old yet, and he has a long life in front of him, so we want to do everything possible to help Little Blue.

I will tell you about the first time I met this special little boy and his wonderful girlfriend Pebbles. The owners were very nice people, but due to unforeseen circumstances they were no longer able to care for their two Neapolitan Mastiff's, so they contacted rescue. When I walked into their yard I see this little boy trying to decide if he should come up to love me or stay back. I gave him a few minutes and I had this wonderful dog attached to my hip, only wanting love. Miss Pebbles came up to me after she saw Little Blue getting loved and decided that she wanted some too.

When I saw Little Blue's face I was shocked! Another dog in the next yard over had bitten him and his mouth is swollen up like a balloon! He looked like his name should have been Bubba with the fat lip he had. Miss. Pebbles' face was also scratched up from the same dog. These two Neapolitan Mastiff's just would not fight back. All they did was take the bites and run back into their little shed and hide. Right then and there they had my heart tied in knots! I spent a long time with the two of them that afternoon, and by the time I got back into my car I was covered in mud, but so in-love.

Right now, Little Blue and Pebbles are at Sheree's house getting comfortable and used to their new surroundings. They are going to need some medical care before they are placed in a home. Little Blue needs to see the Ophthalmologist, have someone take a look at that bite on his mouth, and get a full work up at the vet. He also needs to be altered as does Pebbles, who also needs a full work up with the vet. Please remember that these two dogs CANNOT be separated. Pebbles is a year old and Little Blue is 11 months. If you can find it in your heart to help Little Blue out please send a donation with his name on it to Neapolitan Mastiff Rescue.

Ok that was a long story i know, but these dogs really need a home.(im trying to adopt) The only problem is that before they get a home blue has to get donations for his eyes. Please help! Post if you would like to help!

If you're trying to get rid of 2 cockers who are forced to stay in a shed, and you can't afford a mastiff, why are you asking for money?

I'm sure your heart is in the right place but I think you need to stretch your brain a bit and think of these dogs you're trying to help. These dogs need more than money and more than your own situation can handle right now. Please get help for these dogs (the large and the small) from someone that knows and cares what's best for the dogs...not just what you wish you could do by yourself. I feel for you but I'm heartbroken over these poor dogs. Really. Think what your doing. What ever happened to your great dane by the way? See? Sorry, don't mean to sound harsh.

I have read both posts now (one is in Dog Rescue) and I have to agree with Mugsy and Laurie. Based on the information your provided about your Cockers and the odor and housing issues you have with them, why do you think you could handle two very large Mastiffs with health issues? I don't know how old you are, but it sounds like you are young enough to still be in school (you mentioned that). How would you provide food and health care for two dogs that you have determined already have health issues? Surely you can't expect people in "cyberspace" to send money? Most of the members here are working adults and we all still feel the pinch of veterinary bills and purchasing proper food and supplies for our animals. I'm sure in this case, your parents will call the shots since it is their home. I just hope you will take care of the issues with your Cocker Spaniels before even giving consideration to taking on two more dogs. :( :(

Hey I dont have the dogs they are in a rescue and they need money because it costs $250 just to get thevet to see him..Even if i was to adopt these then it wouldn't be till next year because they cant be adopted until that they get the money they need...You are really donating to the rescue.

It costs $250 to be seen by a vet? YIKES!!!!! Several vets in my area give discounts to rescue groups. Myabe you could tell the rescue group to check all vets to find one that will do a rescue discount.

(Karen - I wasn't sure if we are allowed to post again or not on this. If not, just delete my post or PM me and I'll delete it!)

You should not get another dog. Obviously you don't want dogs and whne you become bored with them you put them out, for whatever reson, algeries or no! Your step dad will still be alergic to them. These dogs have been through enough and need a nice loving home, where they will stay inside forever and be loved.

Ash

ps: Sorry if this sounds harsh but I odn't think its fare your throwing out your "old boring" dogs for new exiting dogs. Even if your dad does have "allergies"

Could you please tell me what Rescue Organization
has these dogs now? What state (U.S) are they located
in? Thanks.
