We adopted Ebony! This is the little girl that I've been dreaming about for the past six weeks!

This Saturday they were redoing the out door cat runs, so many of the outdoor cats (more aggressive) were inside. And guess who else got to be in the cat room? Sweet, black Ebony!!! (We got to love, pet, kiss, brush and cuddle her. She got along fine with the other cats. She pretty much kept to herself and was such a good girl! :D We checked her file and found out that she had been brought to the Humane Society with another cat! That was enough for me! (We had been told she didn't like other cats)

Ebony is now Olivia Eve Cotte. She is 6 ½ years old…born on May 13, 1996…exactly five years older than Noah. :) Isn’t that neat?? When we brought her to the car, she got to ride in my lap for the forty minute trip. She was a little scared at first…and than really curious. We got home and prepared our walk-in closet for her. Her transition was amazing! I swear she KNOWS she is in her forever home. She is friendly and loving and is even curious who those other kitties are lurking outside her door. Each time we go in her room to see her, she runs to us, purring all the way. :D

Here she is.... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid42/p9b5b5d6ace5d56e458e952c4d4cbe60e/fceeaeb0.jpg

Congratulations! Olivia is just so gorgeous! :) I am so happy for you! :)
Great pictures, I love her expression in the first pic sort of all relaxed and accepting of adoration! lol. In the second one too, so enquiring and bright eyed. And looking at the third one I can see just what you mean when you said how much Ebby looks like her, very much so. Please keep posting pics and news on how she is doing.

WHAT? You have FOUR CATS NOW? OMG!!!! That is soooo cool!!! I am so excited for Olivia and Basie, and Noah and Noel! I hope they all get along! I know Baby Basie won't be a problem...cause he is young and bratty (oops, did I really say that about him?) . I didn't even know you guys were really looking..and you are getting so close to my number, I think I need to go get another!
Congrats, and keep us posted on the introductions.

eeep! This is the exact response we are afraid of! :) That's why we are ONLY telling Pet Talk and my best friend (fellow crazy cat lady).

I just checked on Olivia, she is doing great! David had to lay a pillow accross the bottom of the door last night, with Noah and Basil guarding her door, she was pushing up against it hard. :(
She was so happy to see me, she crawled out from her hole and ran to greet me. She's too funny, after about 5 minutes of petting and chatting, she goes back in her hole. When she see's I'm still there, she'll come out again. This repeats the entire time!

I brought Basil in to meet her and they happily sniffed at each other. Noah seems really interested too, not threatened! Yay! Noel finally realized there was something going on in the closet and treid to get her paws in there to check it out. :)

Thanks for your sweet works on Olivia. She's doing great so far.

Oh, Oh! My black cat, Chester is smitten with Olivia!!! She is a beauty all right. If she ever needs an escort, Chester is volunteering for the job. By the way, four cats are purr-fect. They all have someone to keep them company when you are busy.:D

I have a question......Didn't SOMEONE, namely NoahsMommy, recently say "three is my limit, I can't have any more cats?" Please refer to the following selected paragraph from "our first day at the shelter" thread:

Helping keep the animals at a shelter socialized is probably more important than people think. The cats/dogs are in cages or runs forgeting what is was like to have a family. That makes it harder to adjust to a new family when they are lucky enopugh to get adopted. The more contact with people that they can have the better.......

Answer by NoahsMommy
This is the EXACT reason that I don't feel I need to take them home. I've told myself that I'm preparing them for their destined owner...that and I have two cat hating cats at home...Basil, however, loves other cats. I mean...no he doesn't.

So how do you explain Olivia????HUH???HUH????

you do know that I am only pulling your leg.......I think it is wonderful that there are WEAK people in this world who don't know when to stop....hee hee

What's the matter Jen, is she starting to sound like you, always room for one more?;)

Congrats on the new addition Noah's Mommy! How could you resist a face as sweet as that!
I hope the other cats get along with her and then you will have to post lots and lots more photos of your 4 cats!:D
(now you will have to add the name Olivia to your avatar too.)

hee hee....see? This is what I had been telling myself BECAUSE of Olivia... :) I was already a sucker back then! :D

This time I know she is our limit. School is starting back up again and we are moving...that, and I'm afraid to tell anyone becides you guys that we have four now. :) AND we live in a two bedroom apartment. (This is what I'll be rehersing in my mind next Saturday....no, really, Olivia was really hard to convince David with...he kept saying three was enough.)

She had her first introduction with Noah. She really doesn't like being cooped up in her room...I really can tell. So, she and I hung out in the bathroom while David vacumed her room. She loved sitting on the toilet, playing with a beaded necklace. (she's so cute! :D ) I put her back in her room/closet and watched her with the door open and she decided she wanted to check out the other rooms in the house. She quickly found the window cat seat and stared outside for a few minutes when Noah discovered her. There was a little hissing, but they are fine....time, it takes time. ;)

What a lovely, lovely kitty!!!! I used to think tabbies were my favorites, but all these blackies and tuxes on here have me thinking differently. I'm with Jen - I like to hear about "weak-willed" cat lovers (hee hee);). There can't be TOO much difference between having 3 and having 4..........you won't even notice those few extra dollars missing each month......;) :p, and you'll get a nice return on your investment anyway.

OK Miss "four is my limit".....we'll see !!!!!!HEE HEE
I had 6 cats living in a one bedroom apartment before we even knew we would be moving to a larger house.
Cant'wait to see ans hear all the stories of the introductions with the other kitties.

You are too funny! :)
Actually...in our move to Sacramento...we've decided to look for a house to rent vs. an apartment.

Still the same at home. Olivia wants out of the closet, but not until she goes to the vet and we know how well they will all get along...

Olivia , you are gorgeous !! All look-a-likes of Sydney are ;) :D

Congratulations!! I knew you wanted a black kitty, and when Basil did his amazing transformation we were all wondering if a black kitty was still in your future, and sure enough! :) Olivia is just beautiful, and she sounds like a real sweetheart. If there was only a little hissing between her and Noel, that's a real good sign since Noel is the one who really didn't accept Basil at first.

Just think, two girls and two boys now. Your family is expanding! ;) :)

Good luck on finding a house to rent, sounds like the extra room would be greatly appreciated by your fur family. :)

Oh, Kelly, congrats with such a great addition :)
Did I ever say that black cats are my favorites? (only a thousand times, maybe)
She's gorgeous!!!! I hope she gets along well with the other kitties.
I think four it's really a good number. I want at least three.

Uh oh...was I that transparent??? hee hee :D

Yes, an extra room will greatly benefit us in our move up north. We are actually looking at renting a house...that would mean more windows for them to stare out of! :D

Update: Olivia is still in her closet...we let her out to explore, but she has three other cats interested in her.....enter hissing. ;) It'll be a slow process...We're hoping she'll be able to come out totally for Christmas. She is my present after all. :)

Hello and a big PetTalk WELCOME to the beautiful Olivia!! Congrats Kelly and David!!!
I know that Ebony is a common name for Black cats but isn't it funny that we just had 2 former Ebony's come into PetTalk?! :D
