View Full Version : Blue Rhino has passed away : (

Today was a very sad day for the stuffed dog toy world. Blue Rhino, the most favorite squeaky toy of the house passed away this morning.

After getting a hole about the size of a quarter in his leg on Saturday, he was immediatly rushed to the vet. Doc said that the hole wasn't big enough to cause problems and that it would heal on its own. The injury was doing just fine until an unnamed suspect found the hole and started to pull out and shred the insides of Blue Rhino. This damage was beyond repair and Blue Rhino was sadly put of of his misery this morning around 8:00.

Blue Rhino will be missed by all who have ever met him. He was a wonderful little guy with 2 squeakers in him. He could cheer anyone up by just being there.

Poor Blue Rhino, our condolences to Carl. If there's a Rainbow Bridge for pets, maybe there's a Plaid Bridge or something for stuffies?

I think Blue Rhino did his job taking care of Carl, now it is his time to pass on to some other needy friend. Maybe Perry would share his blue rabbit with him, although I don't know he takes it to bed with him everynight.

Today is a sad day in the stuff toy world. Stuffed Donkey and Stuffed Lion in our home carried on as usual, playing with Jeffrey and Bandit, but you culd see their hearts weren't in it. Their thoughts were with their fallen comrade. Please observe a moment of silence in honor of Blue Rhino.

I was going to post but I can't; I can't stop laughing. Oh I have to say something, this is so tragic. Oh, poor, poor Blue Rhino. Hopefully he is in squeekum heaven. Star and Cody are inconsolable and have taken to their beds with their own stuffies. Our sympathy to poor Carl. He must be devastated. Rottie, I just wanted to tell you that Carl is a very handsome Rottweiler. I showed him to my husband and he thought he was a beauty.
Quite a long time ago we had a female Rottweiler and I named her Kate, after Katherine Hepburn who I admired. She was really sweet. I think Carl looks like the Carl in the "Carl" books.

I read the subject of this post and prepared myself for a tearjerker. Well I did end up having tears but that was just from laughing http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Squeakies only last in my house about 5 minutes before they are put to sleep. I think I spend more buying dog toys than I do on anything else, hehe.

This may sound gross to some, but:
we have a toy box full of unstuffed animals! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif There are bodies all over the place. Shiloh and Killian are stuffed animal killers! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif

Daisy here. Carl, I'm real sorry 'bout Blue Rhino. If your ead my post a while back about the death of Pink Bunny, you would see that I understand whatcher goin' through. Nothin' will ever replace Blue Rhino. Don't ferget 'bout him. He and Pink Bunny are at the Rainbow Bridge now. I think we should have a moment of silence. All you other doggies with yer toys still, no squeakin' today in memory of all toys gone before us.
Deepest Sympathies and Howls,
Daisy

Awww...I'm sorry about double squeaker Blue Rhino!! But, fear not, luckily for my Cody-meister, squeaky toy master of the world, especially at 3am...I, his beloved owner secretly replaced HIS double squeaky blue Rhino thru a catalog and unbeknownst to him, bought 5! I know you can never replace, the 1st one, but, Rottie, Email me and if interested, I think I can still tell you where to get them (pssst...on sale!!!) In fact, Cody gave some out as Xmas gifts this year to his dog pals!

Rachel....unless I'm mistaken, doesn't Hannah have a confession to make about little Lamby. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Yes, she always seems to hurt the ones she loves. Somes she loves for a long, long time like the little white bear, who quite unexpectedly lost its life in the cruelest of ways...its face was torn off. The aforementioned Lamby's life was rather short in stuffed toy standards. Such a shame as it had the most wonderful "baaaa". I think the fact that it was MY favorite played into the shortness of its life. Right now hedgehog, froggers, Tucker's Ducker, kitty, funny dollie, and rhino are still with us, but the Christmas bear is disabled with only one arm and periodically suffers the withdrawal of innards through its gaping wound.

i was laughing as i read these posts.

Although I don't have a dog, my cat does have a favorite stuffed mouse(ghost mouse). Well, he ripped the stuffed mouse a new one and pulled out all the stuffing. He still carried the 'mouse casing' around. So I bought a new mouse,(banshee mouse), and tied the casing of the old mouse onto the banshee mouse. now he loves 'Banshee Mouse'. I bought it because the name made me laugh.

Rachel, Rachel, Rachel! I know it's tacky to snicker and sneer in the face of the Grim Reaper. BUT I am on the floor. That's the funniest eulogy I've ever read! If people across the world thought we were nuts smelling paws, well, this tops it all. An obituary page for stuffies! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

And Ben...ah, yes....the case of the stuffless carcass casing. I know the sad saga, the vicious cycle all too well. Like Sudilar, we have a entire toy box labeled "expired friends." Stuffings a mere memory; squeekers forever silenced. Nothing but torn shreds; faceless memorials to a former life. Blank expressions; lifeless eyes...(actually, the eyes and face are usually the first to go) What can I say??? I tried, with all my surgical nursing skills to save them...I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

No one has mentioned that yet! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif I try and pick it all up when I see that Honey and Lilly have destroyed another "little man" (that's what we call them), but it never fails, when I go on backyard cleanup detail, there will always be a little "fuzzy poop" waiting for me!!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

LOL this is great. Yes, Daisy carries around the lifeless, stuffingless bodies of Snakey and her soccer ball. It is sad, isn't it? And somehow I think we care more than they do, most of the time. Seeing as they are usually the murderers!

You guys are crazy!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif I usually post my e-mails from work and here I am laughing so hard tears are falling down my face and my co-workers are looking at me as if I have totally lost it!!! As you probably all know by now I have a terrier and they are infamous for chewing and 'killing' their toys. Sadie has one stuffie that is a tiger and she has practically shredded that thing - I have had to perform many a surgery and the poor thing is an amputee with only one front leg left. She has just acquired a new stuffy which is a round ball with bunny ears and it makes a 'giggling' sound when it is squeezed or tossed in the air. It is quite funny when she carries it in her mouth and it starts 'giggling' - it sounds like Sadie giggling!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

My dog Snowball has had a lot of squeeky toys that have pasted on. But a very long time ago. First it was a news paper, than a hamber, than bugs bunny, and finally a blue star. She still has Mr. Squeeky and it is in good shape. I dont think it is going to die soon. Maybe never. :)

When I was typing about the news paper, the hamberger, bugs bunny, and the star squeekies well Snowball killed all of them before she turned two i think or it was one years old. She was a squeeky toy killer when she was a pup. The star one was kind of a pillow with a squeeker inside. I have this little cherish teddy and when u squeeze it, it squeeks. Ever since Ive had that Snowball has been after it. When I squeek it anyway. She just loves to have squeeky things in her mouth.

This post had me cracking up!!! How creative first of all and secondly, I feel bad for not mentioning the passings of Lexi's Frog-boy and Dinosaur-man a couple months ago.

May they rest in piece. Lexi misses them dearly.....I attached pictures of her with each toy. Oh, goodness, I'm tearing up. Dino-man died at a ripe old age of 2. He was around a lot longer than most toys... he was an idol to Frog-boy. He always wished he could be just like his pal Dino-man. But, alas, nothing is forever. Now they play in the "Plush Palace" of the Rainbow Bridge, awaiting their owners to find them again.

And Karen you gave me a GREAT idea!!! Once I get up and running on the website I made again, I think I might at "Plush Palace" for all of those dearly departed toys that brought such joy to our pets lives. :)

Ah, the wee beasties my pets and I (as a child, I don't torture them like I used to :D ) have sent over the Plaid Bridge. I wonder if they'll be happy or frightened when our turn comes??? Dadcat had a hissy fit one night and toasted his little lion in the fireplace - I know that poor stuffie is licking his lips in anticipation of Dad's arrival!!!

Hey, what's all the whining and boo-hooing about here? What are you all, a bunch of sissies or what? I kill stuffed animals all the time ... and I like it! I rip out their guts, and then I chew up their squeakers! Hee hee hee.

And my buddies Thunder and Georgie help me do it, too. We're a regular gang of thugs around here when it comes to disemboweling stuffies. You gotta problem with that, punk?!?!

And just to show we ain't afraid of the coppers coming down on us for doing it either ... here's a picture of us in action, except we decided to kill a shirt sleeve this time instead! Death to stuffies and shirt sleeves!

i first want to offer my sincere condolences in this time of tragedy and heart break to the family of "Blue Rhino"....
but...since time is of the essence...i need to ask a delicate question....was blue rhino a donor card carrying stuffy toy????
him, being a double squeaker and all...he could bring new life to those lifeless toys that are locked in Killian and Shilos' toy box...lacking a little stuffing and squeakers....Blue Rhino could live on in the toy hearts of Killian and Shiloh Toys!!!!
i know this is a tough time to ask...but you have only so much time to extract and transport those double squeakers to their new stuffy bodies....hopefully, blue rhino had a card filled out...and the squeakers are winging their way to their new stuffy bodies as we speak...bringing more joy to the hearts of doggies everywhere!!!!!!!
questions?:

ROTFLOL!!!!

Poor Blue Rhino, donated squeeker transplanted to tail-less squirrely toy, has met another untimely death at the hands, errrr, I mean PAWS of that innocent little girl, Shiloh.... as she pounced and proceed to knock the stuffing (pardon the graphic details) out of tail-less squirrely. In the act of pouncing, Shiloh's petite 98 lb. frame squished the squeek out of the toy. It, again, is a sad day in toydom. :( :( :(
