#155-#160-Animal Gifts- Bowmanville Zoo-The star of this entry was Limba the 53 year old Asian Elephant who wouldn't have got to this age without the great care from the people at the Zoo.Protesters had planned to block the Parade and it was decided that Limba couldn't be in it.Discussions took place,the protesters backed off from blockading,police beefed up security,they followed the protesters as they walked along the parade route.The Parade committee then allowed Limba back in the Parade thanks to a Facebook group called We want Limba in Bowmanville Santa Claus Parade.It wasn't looking god for Limba as she had some tests done and found a growth that may be cancerous was found on her and she may not be well enough but the day before the Parade she was feeling better and participated.People along the route cheered and Limba and took pictures.the head of the Zoo thanked Bowmanville for their support,if it hadn't been for us,Limba may not have been in the Parade.The Protesters are planning a protest at the Zoo tomorrow from 11:30-3 and we have been told to steer clear of it,so they won't have an audience to voice concerns.The Zoo carried a banner that read Thank you Bowmanville.

There were 73 entries this year,up from 45 last due to the lifting of the no advertising ban on floats.From start to finish it took about 2hours and 15 minutes and 1 hour and 14 minutes to pass by where we were.
