I am not sure if many people saw this, but perhaps it did make National or maybe just Regional News. As if Hurricane Sandy wasn't enough. I am not in love with New Jersey, for a variety of reasons but I've grown up here and these are places I can tell stories about and where I grew up. They were gone last year after Sandy. They recovered and now this. It's just tiresome and heartbreaking. :(

Yes, our prayers for all of them, I hope they find out who or what caused this huge fire. One would think, with all the rebuilding, they'd be sure to adhere to fire codes, etc., ...

A gut feeling tells me it's Arson or some kind of prank gone horribly wrong. It's a little suspicious that it's on the last weekend of the summer.

Yes I know what you mean. I live in Central NJ and I grew up going to the Jersey Shore and loved it. I haven't been there in a long while but it breaks my heart to see NJ going through another tantrum that Mother Nature seems to be throwing at us. Sandy was bad enough and now a fire destroying the Shore. It just brought tears to my eyes when I first saw this news on TV. I feel so bad for the people who have lost their homes with Sandy and now people who have lost their businesses from fire. A brand new boardwalk destroyed once again, this is really horrible.

I feel so very bad for all those people (and animals too). So much energy and time and effort and love went into rebuilding after Sandy, and now this..

If it really was arson, I hope they catch the perpetrator(s) and put him/her/them away for a long, LOOOOONG time.. in a prison with many Jersey Shore native prisoners.

We are sending out our prayers and good wishes to all affected so heartbreakingly by this.

This is so sad. There is nothing like the Jersey shore around here. I heard on the news that 40-some businesses were affected by the fire. And that the governor of New Jersey was notified of the fire and promised help in whatever way might be appropriate.

I don't believe that any homes were lost - were they Alysser? The Phila stations started covering it soon after it started, and pretty much stayed with it from then on. ABC was reporting that the fire had crossed the street and was effecting homes, but I never heard anything more about that particular aspect. I believe it was just an 8 block stretch that was totaled - business and the boardwalk too.
