Karen had her thyroid removed today. Her operation was unexpectedly moved to today. They say that the surgery went well. She should be back tomorrow.

The title surprised me, as I saw a post from her this morning. Of course, she could have done that from the hospital, lol.

Speedy recovery, Karen. Hope this solves some problem(s) for you, just one pill a day to replace that now.

Thanks everyone, I just got home. Surgery went extremely well, I am told, and I'm just tired but that will happen when you are awoken at 4 a.m., then 6:30, then 7:15, then ...

I am a bit sore, but this will pass. Good riddance to bad parts, I say! (Two nodules, one in each side, but now they are gone, and no need for chemo or radiation or anything so over and out!)

It's good to hear you're back home - that was quick. :) Take your time to recover and get some sleep. A couple of hours here and there is just not good enough!

Hope you're back to normal in a few days!

I'm glad everything came out all right. One thing to be careful about thyroid hormone replacement: generics are OK, but it's important to stick with one manufacturer only. Thyroid hormone is touchy to get right. Good luck!

Like Leslie, I nearly passed out when I read the title of the thread!!! Oh my gosh, Karen, more surgery??? I'm so relieved to hear that the surgery went well, and that you're home, "resting comfortably!" Gosh, at this rate you won't have many parts left for removal!;) Rest up, enjoy the comforts of home (sleep!!!), and hopefully be back on your feet very soon! Lots of love and a BIG hug to you!!!:love::love:

I know, I said to some nurse over this stay - "Parted with my gall bladder last year, thyroid this year, wonder what's next year?" Her response? "It's good we have spare parts we can do without!"

All the staff, doctors, nurses and even the nice lady who came to bring me my breakfast and didn't mind when I needed a different cereal (General Mills Corn Flakes are NOT the same as Kelloggs, whose ingredient list I know!) were all very nice.

Thanks everyone, I am back to normal, just have to wait until next month to see if I have to have radioactive iodine treatments, hoping not! Scar is still scary-looking but doesn't hurt, so that's good!
