Introducing Bentley & Levi!!!

Some of you may know that this weekend was a free adoption event. The fees were covered by Maddie's Fund. This was the first time that they've done this where I live and some other states were also doing this. All dogs and cats are already spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. I decided to volunteer with the FOSMAS cat rescue group on Saturday at Petco. I had already inquired about a cat named Diller who reminded me a lot like my RB Storm. I've really been missing him a lot lately.:( His foster mom is the same as Colby's, Radar's, Reece's, and Rory's and she would also be at Petco with some of her cats on Saturday. I had also inquired about 2 other cats but they wouldn't be a good fit for my home. I was then reminded about a cat named Bentley. He has been waiting for a home for a long time now. His two brothers were adopted together as little kittens last year. He was also there when I adopted Radar & Rory. When I was scooping the litter boxes he kept rubbing all over me and putting his paw on my back. This is when I knew that I just had to adopt him.:)

He was born in March 2012 so he's a little over 1 year old now. I still need to get all of his paperwork from his foster mom.

When I met Diller now known as Levi, I was overcome with emotion and I started crying. He reminded me so much of my RB Storm. He is much smaller though and he's a bit overweight too. He has beautiful copper eyes whereas Storm had gorgeous light green eyes. He also has a little bit of white on him. He was born in July 2012 so he's still a kitten. I also need to get all of his paper work from his foster mom. He's such a love bug and a sweetheart. He doesn't growl or hiss at other cats. Bentley has been hissing at him and bopping him on the head if he comes too close.:(

I named him Levi as in Levi Blue Jeans. I'll most likely be keeping Bentley's name unless I can think of a better name. Suggestions are welcome.:)

Thanks. I like their names too. I just couldn't keep the name Diller for Levi. The rest of my cats have been hissing if they see Bentley except for Sky. I don't think that they've seen Levi yet. When I gave them a towel with Bentley's and Levi's scent on it they seemed to like it. I hope that things will go well.:)

Congratulations on the new furbabies! I love tuxedos, so I fell instantly in love with Bently (love the name, by the way!). It's so nice to see you having another Big Blue in your family. I was just thinking, there is a Bentley car dealership near my church, a little further west. You don't see very many of them on the street because they're crazy expensive, though. They look to me like just the sort of car that someone in a tuxedo might very well drive, maybe to a black-tie event! So I think Bentley the tuxedo kitty is perfectly (uhh, purr-fectly) named! Thanks everyone.:) I haven't let them out of the cat room/second bedroom just yet. I think I'll let one cat in the cat room at a time so they don't feel overwhelmed at first. Both of them are used to being around large groups of cats so this is also a plus. I did let Sky in the room last night and he saw their food and wanted to eat it. Bentley hissed at him and Levi seemed a bit scared of him. Sky rarely hisses or growls at newbies so I usually introduce him first. Please wish me luck for an easy introduction.:)

Thanks again everyone.:D Both of them are sweethearts and they're all over me purring away every time I go into the cat room. I couldn't have asked for two sweeter cats.:love: I really don't know what their foster mom's secret is but every cat that I've adopted from her is such a sweet heart. My co-worker and her daughter also adopted 2 cats from her and they're also very sweet.:)

I received their medical records today by e-mail and I learned some very interesting news. Bentley is Radar's brother!!!:D His foster mom forgot to mention this to me. I knew that he had 2 tuxedo brothers that got adopted together as young kittens so I thought that they were his only brothers. So Bentley's birthday is on March 27, 2012 just like Radar's. Levi is actually older than I thought he was. His birthday is on June 28, 2012 so we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday soon.:)

I really do think that my Storm sent Levi to me and some how Radar's brother was also meant to be in my home. I feel very blessed and lucky right now.:)

Thanks again everyone.:) I've been letting Bentley and Levi out of the cat room in the morning before work for a bit and then in the evening after work for a bit. It's so funny to watch Colby desperately trying to make friends. He follows Bentley much too closely and almost always gets hissed at. Tonight though, he and Bentley touched noses without any hissing. Finnegan squeals with delight when he sees the new boys. He seems to think that all cats are going to like him right away just like Colby, Radar, Reece, and Rory did. Levi won't even walk around.:( He'll just sit in one spot. I've been putting him up in one of the cat trees so he can observe everything and everyone. He never hisses or growls. Tonight he just sat in the hall way for a bit and then he wanted to go back into the cat room. Now he's hiding under one of the cat condos way back in the farthest corner of the room. He's much shyer than I thought he was. I've never really had a cat that was this shy before and that didn't want to go around exploring and sniffing etc. I'm not quite sure how to introduce Levi to my other cats. When I put Sky in the cat room, Levi seemed very scared of Sky. Bentley just hissed at him. Any suggestions are welcome.

Bentley & Levi are both very handsome boys.:love: Sounds like the intros are going fine so far. I tend to agree with your opinions on Levi. From what I've read here
so far, Levi seems like the kind to take his time with new things & new cats. He looks like a real sweetie in his pictures.:)

Thanks.:) I haven't even bothered to introduce them to my girls. Ziggy has seen Bentley for a little bit while she was out with the others waiting to be fed. My girls prefer to spend most of their time in my bedroom these days. Pearl lives in my bedroom. That would both prefer to be only cats so being in my bedroom is the best option/solution for them. It's also my cat sanctuary for my 3 oldest cats which includes Sky too.

How do you do it?:confused: I only have two and they can barely be in the same room together without having a growling, hissing match. Of course, they used to have fur-flying fights, so I guess we've made a little progress. Heck, it's only been a little over 2 years.:rolleyes:

Well I've been very lucky in that my male cats are used to being around other cats. They also have fairly mellow personalities. If I had several alpha males in the group then things would never work out. You may be dealing with two alpha male cats so this is why you're still having problems. Also yours aren't the same age. Most of mine are very close in age so they have the same playful energy level which helps a lot. Sky does get tired of hanging out with them and then he wants to go back in my room for his quiet time. I feel that it's very important to have a space or a room where the older cats can go to get away from their younger brothers or sisters. I do still have some hissing or spats from time to time but it's nothing major. Now put my females in with the males and it's a whole different story. Fighting, hissing, growling always happens.:( Ziggy will growl or hiss if one of her younger brothers even looks at her from across the room.:(

I do think they are both alpha males, but the older one doesn't try to get away from the younger one at all! It's the youngster (Kimba) who needs a place to get away from Mac (the geezer). Luckily, a neighbor in my building was moving and gave me a 5 ft. tall cat tree she was going to throw out. Kimba is often on the very top tier or in the bottom cubby hiding from Mac. Mac knows no age limits. He's about 15, has hyperthyroid, and still runs, jumps, plays, etc... with the best of the youngsters. His meds have really made a difference in how he acts. Kimba is sweet, but at times naughty, 2yo who loves nothing better sometimes than to annoy Mac. I'm glad that all of yours are so mellow. Sometimes I envy you for all the beautiful, handsome, furbabies you have.:)

Thanks Elyse.:) Things are still going well. I can tell that Bentley and Levi love their new home.:love: Radar now likes his brother Bentley and I've seen them playing chase with each other. Finnegan has also been playing with them.:) I hope to be able to take some better pictures this weekend of them interacting with their new brothers. Stay tuned.:)
