I just got back from Taco Bell and was led to your recipe. It appears you are giving the Bell some worthy competition. I will have to try it out. I will offer some to the black cat, but I suspect he will reject it.

However, the tabby, Clyde, will probably partake with gusto, for he has eclectic taste buds - for a cat.

Having just had dinner (take out Chinese from Maxim's - I think there's one in your neighborhood, Sandy!) I better not tell Dadcat about this just yet! He'd have us making it up tonight -LOL!!
And somewhere I have a recipe for a sauce like they use at Rubio's on the fish tacos!!
Gotta find those empanadas, too!!!

So now I am checking out Thread #2!!!
I too love to cook but don't get to as often as I like!
I also like Johanna have a great SIMPLE recipe for Chili:

1 can of tomato soup
1 can of stewed tomatoes
***1 can each of kidney, pinto, chili beans
cumin to taste
chili powder to taste
1 pound ground beef

Put all ingredients in a large pot or a crock pot and heat thru.

*** I love this with any kind of bean, I have used 15 bean soup (soaked over night) and also the flavored baked beans are EXCELLENT!!!

Also I will find the link for my favorite Potatoe soup from www.allrecipes.com That is the best site!!

This is a GREAT simple recipe for potato soup!
I use less water and add some mashed potato flakes to thicken it up.

ANNNNNNNNND den:

This is a wonderful summertime recipe or anytime.
This is light and fluffy!! I sometimes experiment with different flavors of pudding or even Jello mixed with Vanilla pudding for consistency.
There is never ANY left when I take this cake!!

This is also from www.allrecipes.com

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) package angel food cake mix
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 1/2 cups milk
1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix

Directions

1
Prepare and bake the cake as directed on the package.
Allow to cool. Remove from pan. Slice a 1 inch layer off the
top. Gently hollow out a trench about 1 1/2 inches wide and
2 inches deep. Tear the removed cake into small pieces and
set aside.
2
In a medium bowl, combine milk and pudding mix. Beat on
low for 2 minutes. Fold cake pieces and 1 3/4 cups of
whipped topping into pudding. Fill trench with pudding
mixture. Replace top of cake. Spread remaining whipped
topping over top and sides of cake.

This is a very good recipe. easy to make and never any left overs. The recipe came from our past president and she cooks good. At out meetings never any leftovers of the bean dip. I knew Frostfrog woould be at a local Taco Bell.

As to Maxiums Kohala not one near me. But I'd knew you would like it.
Maybe your husband can make it?

Sure I was looking for a potato soup recipe last week, and NOW you put one up!!! Oh well, i found a few a made my own from it!!! This is what I made for dinner last night...

Pork Vindlaoo

4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp aniseed
1 1/2 T coriander
2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp dry mustard
2 T oil
1/2 c. onion
1 lb boneless pork
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp salt
1 T vinegar
a pinch each of cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom

Mix garlic, ginger, tumeric, cayenne pepper, aniseed, corriander, cumin and mustard with enough water to make a paste (about 3 T) Heat the oil over medium heat and fry onion until soft. Add paste to onion and stir about 3 min

Add pork pieces, coating each well with spices and reduce heat to low. Fry slowly for 10 min, turning pork once and adding up to 2 T water if pork sticks to the pan. Add boiling water and salt. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours until pork is tender. Stir in vinegar, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. ( I then turned up the heat to coil off some excess liquid, to make a thicker sauce)

Serve over rice
