Hi there!

Living here in Texas, there's no snow to be found, unless I
want to crush up some ice from the freezer and spread it on
the lawn.:) But thought I'd share a few warm sunny day pics
from a couple of days ago.

Oz wondering why everybody else's dogs look so cold here on

Cute pics, thanks for sharing! Being in Texas too, we also don't have snow pics but I'm really hoping to one day with pics of our girls in Ohio where we're from and hopefully moving back to one day! Plus, I thought it was pretty warm here today, even warmer than it has been the last few days. However, I forgot to check the temp on the sign on the way into work.

Oh my gosh, Oz is getting BIG! I'm pretty sure the last time I saw pics of him, he was still a pup. Both your dogs are gorgeous, and I especially love Oz's eyes. Thanks for sharing, and I would *love* to be down south where it's nice and warm instead of this 7 degrees stuff! :D

hey ya mugsy!

I think he's pretty gorgeous too, but thought it was just
me being completely blinded by how much I love the big
guy. So nice to know I'm not completely delusional:)

Hola Dakota's Mom!

I know I started out the day with a fleece shirt, because I thought
it was cold this morning, but by lunch time I was sweating. I
should have worn a t-shirt today, but gotta try to get in any
opportunity to wear my winter clothes, because they're few
and far between.

Hiya CookieB!

Well Oz is not quite 5 mos yet, so I think he's still classified as
a pup, even if he looks huge.:) When I look at Murph and Maddie
I just wanna hug'em all the time and kiss'em on top of their
heads, because they're so scruffly cute, but with Oz I find myself
totally mesmerized with his blue eyes. Just wanna stare at him...
Which doesn't last long, because he takes that as his queue to
come stick his cold nose in my face, then I gotta hug him and give
him a kiss on his big ole nose.:)

And yep there's something to be said for 70 degree weather
during the winter.:)

primabella
12-02-2002, 05:38 PM
oz is a smooth collie, right? :D
he's so adorable!! i love his eyes too ;)
and that is the cutest collar (with the lil' bones :D)
i've also noticed how HUGE (;)) he's gotten!
thanks for an update on your little guys. :p

He's a Smooth Coated Collie and his coloring is Sable Merle. The
collie folks keep telling me that the white blaze down his
face and his spots will probably fade with age.

Evidently for show purposes a sable merle with blue eyes
isn't desired, which I totally don't get. Goes to show what
I know, because his blue eyes are my favorite physical
feature of his.

Okay off to puppy class,

Both dogs are so cute...and as much as I'd like to complain about the snow I can't. We've been having some really weird weather here for the the last few weeks, it will go from -20 something up to 16 or higher in the span of a few days. However I must confess when it's really cold out I have a little fleece vest sweater type thinging for Winter, the poor little sweetie pie has very little fur on her stomach so a coat is needed for the chill.

must be getting close to you picking up your
lil' guy? I'm looking forward to tons of pics of him.:)

I think you're really gonna be happy with your sheltie.
so far in puppy class, Oz picks up stuff a lot faster
than the other dogs. I know that's gotta be that
herding breeding.

Hi Crikit!

-20?!?!? brrrrrrrrrr... I know my lil' cairns wouldn't like that
kind of weather. The last back country trip we took in the
spring, it got down to 40 degrees on one of the nights.
We had to stuff Murph in our sleeping bag, because he started
shivering, he was so cold.

Okay I've been meaning to do this, so now that you've
jogged my memory, I went and smelled my dog's feet.
And dang if Oz's feet don't smell like fritos.:) Murph and
Maddie's don't, so must need big paws to give off enough
of the aroma for me to pick it up.

Holy Cow! Oz is G I G A N T I C!!! And I for one, am extermely jealous of that warm weather and green grass!! I don't like the cold at all! It's not so bad when it's snowing because it's pretty and makes it all worthwhile. But days like today, when the temperature this am was 4!!! That's outrageous!!

Keep the pics coming.......Are there puppy pics of Oz somewhere I can see?

I'm running late to take Murph to the vet. He's hopping around,
not using his back foot. Hope Oz didn't step on him. :(
Anywho, I'll be back later to respond to everybody, but
wanted to post a quick puppy shot of Oz, so ya'll could see

Hey there ownerof3dogs!

I've posted pics of all of'em on various threads since I've been
at Pettalk, but I normally post more pics of Oz here. People
seem more interested in him vs Murph and Maddie.
Not sure if it's because they saw him as a puppy or if they're
just more partial to his look vs M&M's scruffy one.

Here's a couple of better pics of M&M:

Hola ramanth!

Oz actually would probably love cold weather. I got him from
Wisconsin back in Sept and he was use to 70 degrees, but it
was still 90 here. He'd follow Murph and me around the yard,
but from a distance, because he didn't want to leave the
shaded areas to step into the hot grass. :)

Hi Jennifert!

I posted a couple of threads with Oz pics back in Sep and
Oct, but I twaz too lazy to search for them. Figured it was faster
just to post a couple of pics on this thread. Oz is my first
big dog and I'm just amazed at how big he's gotten so fast.
He still thinks he's small though, so I've got a 40lb lap dog.:)

hey again ownerof3dogs!

yep M&M are cairns. just the best lil' dogs. they really are the
perfect compliment to a collie. Oz is a bit timid about somethings,
except when Murph's around. He seems to feed off Murph's
confidence. Think he picked up their exhuberance too.
In puppy class, when the dogs got to play, he was right in
there with the 2 other terriers in the class, just running around
like a wild banshee, while the 2 lab mixes were hiding under
their owners legs. I think he's been around Murph and Maddie
so much, he thinks he's a terrier vs a collie.:)

Murph has a tear in his knee ligament. He's got to rest it
for 2 weeks along with taking some pills. Hopefully that will
work, otherwise he's gotta go see a specialist about knee
surgery.:(

I know how you feel, Destiny, our little one weighed in at about 43 pounds a couple of weeks ago. However, our dane who still thinks she's a lap dog and probably always will, weighed in on that same day at around 80 pounds. So, we've got 40 & 80 pound lap dogs.

Oz and M & M are so cute. Thanks for sharing all the pics! Yes, some people prefer to see pics of dogs like Oz but there are others who prefer pics of dogs like M & M. However, here on Pettalk, we like to see pics of all kinds of dogs. So, keep those pics coming of all of your animals!

He's so cute about it, I really don't mind having a 40 lb lap dog
(soon to be 65lb). Well except when he's running at break neck
speed and hurls himself into my lap. :)

Oh I know, everybody's got different preferences. I love Oz,
because he's part of the family, but I really am more attracted
to scruffy type breeds as a rule. If not for being a grooming
nitemare, I'd have an Old English Sheepdog in a heartbeat.
Seems like here at Pettalk there's more smooth type dog lovers.
The only other scruffy dog I can remember seeing here is
Taggert, who's just the cutest thing going. I don't think I've
seen a really scruffy breed as Dog of the Day yet either. Course
I've only been here a few months, so maybe I missed him.

well I definitely think it takes certain type of personality to
have terriers. Oz has just been a piece of cake to train

Murph seems to be doing a lil' better now with the medicine

because I just can't get him to rest it, especially now that
