I haven't taken many pictures lately because of my poor health, but I was at least able to capture some fall colors before the November rain washed them away. Hope you like them:

It looks like there's a face peering out at you! I remember one you took last year of an old tree, and there was a spooky face in that one. Is someone following you Kirsten?

And as usual, your pictures are wonderful.

LOL, well, who knows...? Some kind of presence which is haunting me? ;) No, seriously, now that you said it... the more I look, the more faces I see in this picture. Weird.

As always....just stunning.

I use several of your photos as desktop art. Several people at work have asked me where they are from saying they are beautiful.

:) Thanks for bringing my pictures to other peoples' attention this way! :)

Karen, can't wait for your new poem! ;)

As for the faces... the one I think is dominating the picture looks like the face of the Witchking of Angmar to me, the Lord of the Rings character, you know... Eerie! lol

Thank you for these awesome pictures! With pictures of the hurricane damage dominating everything here, it's great to see nature in its full beauty again. Would you give your lovely Lily and Luna lots of lovies for me?

Lines and curves set against the cerulean sky
Arcs, and loops and ellipses
Worthy of an Art Nouveau print
Colors bright and strong
Against the flat blue of sky
Stark in contrast, black twig and
Yellow stems, and leaves butter to amber
Seed pods, solid strongest red,
And arching like scimitars from some exotic land
And yet all is temporary
Soon the colors of leaf and stem and seed will flee
And left will only be
A dark twig against a pale winter sky
Remembering, storing deep within
The fire of autumn

Fall's last light
Get caught in the drying petals of a flower past its prime
Now brown and crisping in
The sun's last gasp, preserved forever
In a brown stasis, veins frozen
Like a memory of summer caught
And trapped between the pages of an old book
To be retrieved months later
Crisp and fragile
But smelling faintly of October

The seed buds have matured and gone crispy
Waiting one gust of wind
To tear them from fragile stems
And scatter them across the land
And the leaves, still green, are
Tinged with yellow and curling inward
As if to huddle futilely
Against the inevitability of frost
And the inexorable march of time

But the seeds,
As black and lifeless though they appear
Will wait out the winter, wherever they lay
Patient, still, and silent
And burst to new life
When the world has swung around again
To spring

Such beautiful lines, Karen, almost bittersweet, and yet hopeful... You always find the perfect words to capture the essence of my pictures. :)

We need to publish a book some day; my photography, your poems. ;)
