Happy to report that Clyde's mate was finally adopted from the SPCA. For those that are not familiar, Clyde is the rat I adopted last march at the SPCA adoptathon. His mate came in at the same time and although I would have loved to adopt them both I didn't want to bring more baby rats into the world. Months had passed and she still had not "gone home" as we like to say at the shelter.

Our local SPCA is a model animal shelter and the animals are all so very well cared for. So well cared for that sometimes I think certain ones that are well behaved at the shelter, act up once they go home just so they can come back, one in particular has gone home, misbehaved and been brought back three or four times. Anyway, I was feeling terribly guilty over her languishing so long at the shelter, even though like I said she is well cared for. Recently I began looking into having my Clyde neutered so I could bring her home and they could be together again. Many in this forum gave me advice on having small critters neutered and I had just made up my mind to have it done.

Friday when I went in to walk the dogs, I am a volunteer dog walker, I was so happy to hear that she had been placed in a terrific home.

Thanks to all for your feedback

Just wanted to tell you rats can be nutereed and spayed. I'm so glad that she got adopted!

Thanks Ash. Yes, I know, and I was just looking into having it done, but now there's no need. She has gone to a great home. I know the woman that adopted her and she will have a wonderful life there.
