My son Michael whom I refer to as Slacker just made Chief in the Navy. I got to pin him last weekend. Proudest moment of my life. Congrats to the 13 new Chiefs. Only 6% of Navy men and women reach this high rank. Here they stand in the hanger about to enter for the award ceramony. What an AMAZING group of young people. Let us never forget the hard work and the courage they display everyday to keep us safe and warm in our homes. Love you Chief

Aww, you must be so proud! They all look so healthy and happy in that photo! Can't really imagine how much hard work that must be to achieve. All the best to you and your Chief!

Congratulations to your son, Marigold! From what you have posted about him, I think he's about the most "un-slacker" slacker ever! Best wishes for your future with the Navy, Chief!

Is that Chief Petty Officer? That's a pretty high noncom rank, isn't it? Congratulations!

Congrats! "Slacker" must be a inside joke, because slackers don't make Chief. :D

Yes Chief Petty Officer, one does not call them Sir unless you want to be in a world of hurt. It is Chief. LOL:D

It's been awhile and I had to look it up. :d Chief is a rank of E-7 Enlisted 7th rank and is equivalent to Sergeant First Class in the Army and Gunnery Sergeant in the Marines.

Yeah, I think I heard once "Don't call me sir, I work for a living."

My dad was a Sergeant First Class in the Army, Special Forces.
