Anyone closely following the news might have come across reports regarding netizens that would be disconnected from the Internet after July 9. Media calls this the "Internet Doomsday", and online campaigns asking Internet users to check their systems for a possible DNS Changer infection is, as of this writing, ongoing.

DNS Changer is a Trojan malware that changes the DNS (Domain Name System) of a system to point to rogue servers owned by the criminals. This way, users are redirected to fake pages of any website they visit.

This Trojan has been around since 2007 and it has infected hundreds of thousands of user systems

The site checkers are non-intrusive and Web-based, which means you don’t have to download a tool to have your systems checked. Tell your friends and family about DCWG so they can also have their systems checked.

Do make the check people no matter where you live. Go to this site, before Monday.

I already did it yesterday. I'm safe - according to dcwg.org, anyway.

I also found these two links on a CBC online report:

In Canada go to: http://www.dns-ok.ca/

USA: http://bit.ly/FBI-checker

All good - thanks! ...and this link is much easier than another posted on FB that assumed I knew things I didn't...;)

I found a link you can go to, to see if your computer will be affected. It's a legit site.

www.dna-ok.us

As far as I know the links for different languages and countries that are contained in the one I posted are legit. In fact some are the same as the ones in the FBI-Checker link Catty posted.

Just sayin'.

AND if you have multiple computers, be sure you CHECK EACH ONE.

If you visit facebook or google, they have filters in place to see if you're infected with it and will pop up a warning message if you were. But I guess it's too late now since if you have it you're supposedly cut off and won't be able to see this, anyway lol

yeah, I forgot to check the Compaq until this morning. I knew I had to do so, but it slipped. Fortunately, it is fine. I have Charter and for some reason, their servers weren't affected. Charter never sent any advisories out.
