Please ask your U.S. Senator to support this legislation that has been introduced. Passing the bill will reclassify military working dogs as canine members of the armed forces and simplify transport, adoptions and medical care. It's already through the House.

According to the bill tracker, the house version of the bill is stalled in committee, and has been since March.

I wonder why? I saw this on Anderson Cooper's show, and I thought it would be a slam dunk. How does it get out of committee? (High school civics was a looooong time ago for me)

It only has 18 co-sponsors, and the only way to move it out of committee is to get the committee to vote on it and move it to the floor.

As a counterpoint, H.R. 1351 has the majority of Congress co-sponsoring it, and the committee chair refuses to move it.
