I posted a few pictures in my birthday thread, but I had to share more from my trip to the coast. This place is so pretty!

some kind of mollusk maybe? Was it hard, squishy, did you touch it at all?

Wow these photos are LOVELY! I loved all of them and it looks like a nice trip. I loved all of them and I hope you had a great birthday.

As for the mullosk, looks like some kind of well - mullosk - in a whelk shell. It could be a sea roach of some sort but they usually don't have shells.

I think that a little hermit crab...could be wrong though...

I love the northern california/Oregon coast, my absolute favorite place in the world, thanks for sharing your pics.

53502<---Did a quick search for mollusks of the Oregon Coast and got a hit on the second link. I then did an image search and sure enough...it's called a gooseneck barnacle. They spend their life attached to rocks and tend to live in clusters together with mussels.

Ah, so I was completely off! :P Thanks for finding out, Michelle. I was getting very curious as to what he was last night. And now that I look closer at it there is not really a shell at all.

Thank you, kittycats_delight for finding out what the little guy is! Thank you all for the complements! I've lived in Oregon for almost 4 years and had never gone to the coast, at least not as an adult. When I was a kid, my parents took a road trip to Seattle and we stopped at a beach in Oregon. I remembered that it was very pretty and that I felt at peace there. I always wanted to go back but until now, never had the opportunity. I find it especially neat that my first trip back was on my 30th birthday. I am for sure figuring out a way to go back when the weather is a bit warmer so I can get some swimming time in!
