Or the "Unsinkable Thursday Brown".

I think we should have a Titanic party this week.......

-----------------------

I'll spool up "A Night to Remember".

That is the Ultimate Titanic Movie.

The james cameron spoof was a direct rip-off of that flick.

------------------------

The DOTD is an Iceberg..

1 oz white creme de menthe
1/2 oz peppermint schnapps
1/2 oz Goldschlager® cinnamon schnapps
fill with milk

Pour ingredients over ice in a blender, blend, and pour into a frozen highball glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or chocolate shavings.

---------------------

I'll whip up a chef's salad with what else....

Iceberg lettuce!

DONE?

Frankly, I prefer the Poseidon adventure.

Never watched any of the Titanic movies, I'm too familiar with the story, and would drive my wife nuts. (Just ask her.......she'll tell you)!

I'll just sit in the corner and fire up the marconi so I can listen to the Sox lose another game.

Has anyone ever heard "Fare Thee Well Titanic"? Here's a really cool version; based on a true story of Jack Johnson, who was not permitted to sail on her because of the color of her skin. (It's a bit politically incorrect, so open with caution.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4jliLONDAc&feature=related

I'll have one of those icebergs, though.

I found this on You Tube. It is images of the wreckage of the Titanic nicely set to music performed by Itzhak Perlman. The picture of wine bottles and especially the ending are very poignant (I won't give it away). I've read that the ship is now so fragile after being in the water, at the bottom of the ocean for 100 years that there's no way to bring it back up. The cost would be much too great. Which got me thinking-- Does the White Star Line still exist, and would they still be considered the owner of the Titanic?

http://youtu.be/pun18bi_0-g

And it's lunch time-- a salad with iceberg lettuce would be grand!

Not to pick nits, Smokey, but why would the White Star Line, a British entity in an integrated society sailing from the UK, refuse passage to someone because of the color of their skin?

Neither the home port nor the port of destination had Jim Crow laws.

The US is going to scatter thousands of rose petals over the Titanic wreck site on the 15th. I think that is nice. Always been facinated with the Titanic. I would have loved to have seen her before she wrecked. Not been on her when she sank though.

I'd love a cherry rootbeer please? hold the iceberg.

Well...true. It's still a fun song, though. "I just carry it!"

Stopping in for a second.

I heard that a memorial cruise starting from the UK had to turn back to port because a passenger had heart problems..

Does that mean his heart would not go on?

-----------

I also heard that Kate Winslet did an interview where she said that she wants to 'toss cookies' when she hears Celine Dion sing the the theme song from the movie.

People play it in KW's honor when ever she shows up at a function.

Talk about typecasting?:eek::D

Over by the pond? Do peach trees like wet feet? ;) Or in the front years, as they are so pretty when they blossom in the spring - and that would give you another obstacle to mow around! :)

Ain't I helpful? (Not!!!)

They like damp feet, not wet feet. It's going by the end of the veggie garden towards the street, but out of the way of driving through the lower entrance to the yard.

Now to find more blueberry bushes.....

By the way, if any of you are gardeners, I get offers through email for sales and discounts at Michigan Bulb - that carries all sorts of plants and shrubs besides bulbs, and Gurney's Seed company - I'd be happy to share those with you all, as I do not have any place to garden at the moment!

Has anyone seen Orc or the barkeep since I told Orc to take care of the iceberg for me?

I just had to share this...

There is a VERY wealthy Greek family in our neighborhood, they own a couple of extremely popular diners in the area, who host a HUGE Greek Orthodox Easter fete every year at their home. You can hear the music for miles. This particular traditional music is a little annoying and very distinctive but it's only once a year...

Anyway, we were out on the deck late yesterday listening to the whiny strains when, all of a sudden, I looked at my husband and said, "That's the love theme from the Titanic!"... Yes, folks, even in the midst of traditional Greek music, The Heart Will Go On! ;)

Well, being that the barkeep and Orc are MIA ever since the iceberg, I think I'm going to open the bar, and pour myself a drink. or 10. or 15.

Bad morning.

Not a good week all around. Was at a wake yesterday, and am waiting for info for another, and the mom of one of the radio show hosts passed away, not long after cancer surgery she seemed to be recovering well from.

Nice cup of tea, please.

SWEET! The firs time I made Black Forest cake for them I did it with my usual, which is just a pint of heavy cream whipped with a tablespoon of vanilla in it. To make it to her specs I put 2 tablespoons of sugar in it.

Well hello y'all! TMI - but I've just spent the better part of two days preparing for my colonoscopy on Thursday morning. Not a nice time and will be glad when it's all over.
Life is good up here in KA-NA-DA but we are still waiting for spring to arrive. Merlin is as velcro as any. Mondays and Fridays are booked up with volunteer work (not animal related) and will sign up with the cat sanctuary this weekend.
My weight loss is going well, thanks to Jenny Craig - my lifesaver. With the proper portion control and me working out every day now (well except for today) I can see and feel the difference. I'm never going back to that fat girl I used to be.

Enough of that talk. I'll take an Iceberg please. Cassiesmom - I watched that video and had leaky eyes at the end when they showed all the shoes. So many lives lost. :(

Karen - HUGS.

Slick - so happy to hear you are getting healthier! I joined up with our local Women's Walking Group that the Town just started up again. M - W - F, one hour each time. It's so great to be back! Being with other gals you get to talk, and the time really flies!

A mug of tea please, with virtual sugar and milk. YUM!

So ~~~~ are you volunteering to be the first patient?? Clear off the bar guys - I think Richard needs a thorough going over. We might not be able to administer anesthesia, but we can give him enough to drink so that he won't feel or remember a thing. :p

Yes, when we watch anything based on a true story he drives me crazy, "They never did that. Why can't they use an actual story" and so on and so forth. I'd love an Iceberg please barkeep.

Slick, how'd the 'inspection' go? Had one in Dec 09. They gave me enough sleepy meds that I have no idea what happened. Hope it went ok for you.

Had an old crown replaced yesterday, mouth's a little sore today. Could I get a frosty, fruity drink to help with the ouchiness?

Nice day here today, better if the wind would stop.

Karen
04-21-2012, 01:33 PM
Gayle, hope your mouth is feeling better. Another smoothy for you?

We have wind today as well, but it's looking oh-so-picturesque as when a breeze kicks in the fruit tree that is covered in white blossoms losses a few petals that some spinning prettily to the ground.

The birds are also being pretty noisy, as it's nice enough out to have the sliding door open, we hear them even better!

So is it bad that I am so glad it was pouring rain today that the Red Sox game got cancelled? I am a baseball fan, but they have been playing so poorly - blowing a 9-0 lead, for example, that I think an extra day off can only help!

Yes, I am also glad because we have had so little precipitation this year that the plants and animals NEED the rain, but the BoSox game getting cancelled was a bonus! Sigh. When my Dad - who has been a Red Sox fan his entire life, is saying "maybe next year" in April, you know it's bad!

Nice hot cup of chai, anyone want one?
