This may sound silly, but I'll explain anyway.

I found an art contest I'm thinking of entering. Basically the person wants a dog character with a branch coming from it's body somewhere.

"a tree branch you will need to have a tree branch attached to the canine somewhere, it could be on the top of its head, it could be her tail, it could be attached to her leg, anything.
changeable seasons on the tree "

Most people who entered are like this:

I'm trying to think of something unique but I'm apparently not creative. It seems a little childish, but its a decent prize and I'm jobless in need of money, badly.

How about a tree branch in place of a tail?

Or tied to the forehead like Max from The Grinch ...

I was going to say the same thing about the tail. Great minds think alike!

I was thinking the same about the tail. Or how about the legs being tree branches?

There were a few entries with tail branches, so I'll probably not go there unless it's added on with something else, not a bad idea :D. Thanks for the ideas :D

What about a tree growing from the center of its back, but low and level like a bonsai, and the "roots" wrap and morph into the ribcage, so you can see them popping out of the fur here and there, and the trunk comes up out of the fur, instead of looking just plunked on top like the example you showed?

Well I gave it a shot and this is what I came up with. I thought a "mane" would be sorta different then the other entries...Do you guys think it looks ok?

Job well done. I'd just maybe soften the angle of that front shoulder a little so it isn't quite as pointy!
