PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST GRANTED
NEEDLESS KILLING OF 14 FERAL CATS in Montgomery Township, NJ. The Health Officer ordered 14 cats killed due to "fiscal responsibilty." CAPIC Rescue group www.capiccats.com agreed to take every cat the ACO caught. This was verbally agreed on by a CAPIC Board Officer Hope Valenti and the Montgomery Twp Health Officer, Stephanie Carey. In the same week 14 cats were killed without the rescue ever being informed that Montgomery Township had even caught these cats. They were trapped and left for 3 days in the cold and wet weather, then killed immediately.

The township Animal Control Officer got around the 7 day hold by having a Home Owner Management Company employee sign off on ownership of the feral cats so they could be killed immediately as owner surrenders. To our knowledge this is illegal. These cats were cared for and fed each day. Some were already TNR'd with shots. CAPIC has saved 16 other cats and we have tested at least 7 of them and they have all come back as Feline leukemIa negative and feline HIV negative. These were all healthy cats. The townships concern for rabies is absurd.
When we contacted the Mayor we have gotten no response and the business administrator Donato Nieman says "the issue is closed."

The "Innocent 14 cats" had no say or chance as their rights were taken away. And the township will not even recognize any wrongdoing in the matter. Yet these employees of the town have made it seem like the rescue and the caregivers are the guilty parties. They see nothing wrong in killing 14 animals. They have never even apologized or taken responsibilty for their actions.

Please contact CAPIC Rescue at [email protected] if you want further information. We have all the records and proof this happened. Montgomery Township needs to be held accountable for these cats deaths.

Please call Montgomery Township asap and voice your concerns over the killing of these innocent animals. Below are the emails and phone number of the Municipal building for people who should be contacted.
