He is in sick bay, he has a UTI, is on antibiotics for 10 days.

Spike is not your average house cat, he's fine until you need to handle him, then he turns into a 10lb bundle of hissing, spitting, growling tasmanian devil.

It took me two hours to catch him last night, my house is open concept and that involved blocking entry ways and a whole bunch of running around.

He's well behaved otherwise, but only will let you touch him with your feet..I dont know what happened along the way but none of my others are like that..I hope that the antibiotics do the trick, because I dont have the option of treating him for something chronic..I dont know what will happen if that occurs..

Spike is 12.

I copied this from Shady's description of Spike on the 365 Project. Shady, I hope that is okay. I don't think I can copy the picture because of copyright rules. But I thought I would put the text here so we can hold Spike and his meowmie in thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,
Elyse

Thanks for letting us know about this.:) I hope that he'll recover quickly and will be easy to treat. I know all about having to chase cats around to medicate them and it can be so stressful for both you and your cats. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way.

Thanks cassiesmom for posting this..I'll add the picture....you can see Rocky in the background..I have so much going on, my fridge is dying, I have a cold, Spike like this, and I will be bringing Kenya home tomorrow and had to make sure he has a room all to himself..when it rains it pours..

Spike is better, he uses the box in the crate..but he will be on medication for 10 days. Which means he stays in the crate, for two reasons..I would never catch him twice daily to medicate him, and because I can not have him urinating wherever he wants to. So he has everything he needs, food, water, litter box and bed in the crate (which has been invaluable for these types of situations for the other cats..even though they are not elusive like Spike..)

He is not a happy boy. While I dont think he minds being confined (doesnt try to rush the door or anything) he does not like me having access to him and his personal space. I've given him some amitriptylene for stress. For now it's just the waiting game...and to see when he gets out, that he'll use the box. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for all your well wishes I will pass them on to Spike, perhaps it will help with his hissyness! ;)

Poor Spike - and poor you! I'm sorry to hear so much is going on! When it rains, it pours, doesn't it? He definitely doesn't look happy! Being through countless UTI's with Luna, I know what it means, but luckily, medication always kicked in quickly for her. Hope Spike will soon feel better, so he can get out of that box.

Feel better soon - both of you!
