So I took Mikey to the local reservoir today, for the first time. I was always scared to take him, not sure how he was going to behave, but he was SOOO good. We have a new place to go for walks now, and I think he enjoyed himself immensely. Unfortunately, they're not as scenic as Utah, but this is one of my favorite places to go and I think it's beautiful. Please enjoy!

Where we going?? Hope it's not the VETS! He cried at first, because I guess he thought we were going to the whitecoats, but he was in for a surprise. :D

That's all. Some of these kinda suck, because he never looks! I had a treat for the first two. Then stupid me dropped it in the parking lot and when we went looking for it Mikey found it first, so of course, he ate the whole thing.:p

Looks like a lovely outing! We did his astrology chart on the show this week, and one of the things Joyce mentioned was, as a Taurus, and given his birthdate, he's always gonna be treat-motivated, I'll send you the audio file when I get it! We discussed maybe getting him used to having lower-calorie "treats" like baby carrots, so he doesn't get overweight!

Those are great pictures! It's nice to see you had a successful outing with him. I felt the same way you are feeling when Zoee had a good trip to the Bark in the Park back in September. :D

My puppers LOVE:love:LOVE carrots. They get one every day. Taggart goes to the fridge and licks the door asking for one. And I give them full size ones. Baby carrots would be perfect for Mikey! :)

Hey Mikey :D!

I'm glad he had a great time and behaved so well! I wish I could get Brennan to behave that well so I could take him to nice places, but then again, he and Mikey are a lot alike, so if Mikey can do it, hopefully Brennan can soon too!

Love the pics with his silhouette, those are awesome!

WOO HOO I remember once you despaired you'd NEVER be able to take him anywhere, lol. Too bad there are no shots of YOU, as I am sure you were a grinning nut as well. I am SO HAPPY for both of you!!!

Carrots are a great treat. Sugar LOVES carrots, and all fruit. I use the baby carrots, but cut them in 3 for walk treats. I don't want to hang around, I want to reinforce whatever is done well and get on with our walk. Just one more idea.

Mikey does look happy in these photos. Now you can teach him "park" or "reservoir" and when you are getting ready, tell him where you are off to. My dogs know "Slater" (for Slater Park), and "Farm Walk." Lacey starts spinning around, Tasha barks like crazy, they all get SO excited. Then the whole car ride, Lacey whines in excitement a bit, but the others just look out the window -- I swear they want to know the way themselves, lol. Coming home, I tell them "go home" but they all settle down in the car and sleep, so happily tired. I can also tell them "go to the car" and they will head to the car park. You can make a walk a training exercise too!

I wish you and Mikey many happy outings!

Where was the cuteness warning with this?!? :D

LOVE the pic of him sitting on the bench. Oh my gosh. I just want to pick him up and hug him!

The one of him sitting on what looks like a brick wall is cute...love the expression.

He was definitely a happy boy on that trip.

Thanks guys! :D As for the low-cal treats, he has low-fat doggie treats from target. But I am researching some low-cal treats as we speak. He unfortunately doesn't like carrots.
