The past few months have been CRAZY busy...between riding, school, Quidditch practice, physical therapy and spectrum club I'm only home like one day a week haha.

But I couldn't be happier with the way things are going at my barn. Since this past summer, I've been a working student at my barn and I LOVE it. I'm out there twice a week and I generally ride 3-4 horses a week. I'm riding horses I wouldn't have EVER imagined being able to and I am learning sosososo much about the behind-the-scenes aspect of horse care. I'm more or less competent in basic first aid and I'm slowly learning my way around feeding.

One of the horses I've been privileged enough to ride is Hopper. Hopper is an 18hh, 8 yr old Dutch Warmblood. He is absolutely AMAZING - I'm so grateful to get the chance to ride a horse of his caliber.

I've also been riding Bling a lot, which is incredible. Bling is a 16.3hh, 7 yr old Hanovarian. He's still quite green which leads to interesting rides (WOW, can he throw some big bucks!) but I LOVE it. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm actually clicking with a horse and can see something other than 2'6" in our future. He's currently schooling 3'6" with my trainer and I'd love to get there with him someday.

I've also been hacking Gunner, a warmblood who is an unbelievably talented jumper - my trainer has taken him up to 5' before. He's...interesting. I'm certainly learning to ride out bucks!

Both Hopper and Gunner are for sale (http://www.oaklandhillsfarm.com/sales.htm), and I wish desperately that I had the obscene amount of money available that it would take to buy one of these big guys.

Until I win the lottery, I'm content to be able to ride them twice a week. I am SO grateful to my trainer for letting me do this and I am even more grateful for being a part of such an amazing barn.

Thanks, I'm absolutely loving it!

Part of my job is schooling the naughty ponies, so a few weeks ago I got on Skeeter and jumped him around :p He's SO TINY!
