New Lap Top - what do you recommend

My daughter needs a new laptop for college this year. I am going to give her my Toshiba and buy a new one for myself. I like the Toshiba except for the fact that it seems to overheat frequently.

Any suggestions/opinions on what to get.

I'd start at the library with Consumer Reports.

Im not big on laptops for exactly that reason.
