If you have knowledge and/or experience in this treatment, IMOM would like to hear about it. http://www.imom.org/community/index.php?showtopic=7534&view=getnewpost&hl=&fromsearch=1

Not sure, but they may have received a fundraising application that they are considering.

My Storm was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and is on pills. I have to take him back to the vet next Sat. for a weight check and blood draw to test his thyroid level again. My vet did mention this treatment to me but she said that if a cat's kidneys aren't under control first that this treatment would kill them. Storm didn't do too well at first but now he's doing better. He does seem to be extremely hungry though and also very restless. I think he may need a higher doseage than he's receiving.

Here's a really good link on I-131 treatment. http://thyrocat.com/inside/radioactive-iodine.html

One of the volunteers in my rescue group had this done to one of her cats. Younger cats benefit more from this, as it can be expensive. The biggest pain is keeping the radioactive litter for 3 months, but my friend's cat responded very well to the treatment. (Also, the cat was very difficult to pill.)
