what breed is this?

Hi everyone,
I have a question; on vacation in Turkey we visited Myra and there was the most adorable little black dog there. I was wondering if anyone knows what breed this little guy is. Here are some pictures:

Unfortunately each country has their own local breeds not yet known outside of their area. This makes breed identity quite hard as even if its a mix it could be of breeds we've never even heard of in western countries. It doesn't look like a purebred anything to me but it somewhat reminds me of a small dog of shepherd type know as the small Greek domestic dog or Meliteo Kinidio.

Thanks a bunch, at least I've got an idea now. I just fell in love with the little guy, but he had an owner and was very well taken care of. If this would not have been the case I might just have tried to take him back home. :)

I don't know the regional breeds, either. I would guess a black lab sheltie mix, lol.
