Ok folks, I've opened up the bar. Orc is out back washing the dishes because of past crimes.
So what'll it be folks ???
We have some bagels and cream cheese left over from last week, some hot cross buns, and some chocloate eggs and bunnies.
Tea, coffee, ales, wines....you name it, we got it.

I'll have a cup of tea please Wom.

Just finished hiding chocolate eggs in one of my young engineers offices. Along with a stuffed bunny and some chocolate covered raisins. Should be good for a laugh in a couple of hours when he gets in!

Hey all, guess what, YES, we are expecting SNOW later today and tomorrow. It's never going to quit!!

Richard, hope you're doing better and that you are able to leave hospital tomorrow, that will make it a really Good Friday!!

Doris, thanks for all the info and updates on Richard. Thanks also for keeping him and Edster well.

It's STILL not acting like spring (a year ago it was in the 80s F!) so I'll have a hot chocolate and a hot cross bun.

Richard, get well soon!

Peeps? Oh my, I love peeps..............only aged Peeps though. Karen, I think you still have some in your cupboard that should be about ready.

S the E - how could you watch a Peep explode and think that was funny? Shame on you - may the Peeps never come off your walls and may they be multi-colored:D:D

Let's see - in honor of the Easter Bunny, I will request a chocolate martini..........made with godiva chocolate liquor.

YUM!!! - Peeps - and spiced jelly beans - and just one or two Cadbury Eggs. I'll wait till Monday and then go stock up when all the stores cut the price to get rid of them. :p

Can I have a 7-Up please? Got somewhat of an upset tummy today, and I'm passing on the tacos that the rest of the family is having tonight. It's toast and applesauce for me. :(

Richard - you need to get back here. Look at all the goodies that you're missing. Sending out good wishes and vibes to you!

Sorry, don't know what "peeps" are. They look like some kind of easter treat?

I'd like a tall gin and tonic with lime please. After having my annual mammogram this afternoon I need a reward! This is year 5 after the lump removal. Gentle reminder ladies - GET YOUR MAMMOGRAMS DONE!!

Richard - can't wait till you're back, miss your brand of humour.

Get out of that hospital, QUICK, RICHARD! I should've checked in earlier, but I was somewhat under the weather myself (feeling much better now!) Wom, a couple of hot crossed buns ans a large cup of coffee with Bailey's in it for me, please. BTW, how many dishes do we have left after Orc"s butterfinger handling of them?

Lady's Human
04-21-2011, 08:43 PM
dishes, well.........does anyone here have a membership at Sam's club? We might need it...........

QoP, Peeps are marshmallow animals (bunnies, chicks, etc.) coated in colored granulated sugar.

RICHARD

First off, I need something strong Wom, and make it a double, I'm drinking for Richard too.

QofP, I would much rather have snow than the thunderstorms w/ chance of tornados forecast tomorrow for here. I lived in Germany for 5 yrs and I miss the snow. We do get some, but not nearly enough for me.

Friday apparently was a little optimistic, but he's now hoping for Sat. He's at a teaching hospital and since he hasn't had a colonoscopy (ever) they have decided to schedule him for one. My advice was to ask for double the anesthesia to make sure he doesn't feel the camera at all.

Wow. The place is packed.
Orc !!! Get a move on, we need more dishes. If you break any more, we may have to eat off the banana leaves from the Indian restaurant next door.

QoP.....a cup of tea for you. In a mug today, Orc hasn't started on the tea cups yet. Milk and sugar is on the table already. :D

Smokey.......one hot chocolate coming up, and a hot cross bun. Would you like some butter with that ??? :D

Helene.........Peeps ??? You'll have to wait for Karen to get here, she'll be bringing some from her collection. ;)

Helen.....We'll make something coconutty for you as soon as Orc gets one down from the tree. ;)

MOF.....A cherry root beer for you, in a long tall glass. Peeps will be here soon. KAREN.....hurry up with those peeps.

LH......the peeptinis look....errrr....delicious.

Mary......an English shortbread tea and a breakfast for you. ORC....STOP MESSING WITH MY ORDER BOOK !!!!!

Gini......A chocolate martini coming right up. Peeps will be here soon. ;)

Ellie.........a 7up for you. And the ORC wants an Easter kiss if that's ok. :p

QoP........I'm not sure what a peep is either mate....but I do know that when they are mentioned the ORC goes and hides.
A gin and tonic with lime for you, here you go. :D

David......a coffee for you with baileys, and there's a plate of hot cross buns for you. Eat as many as you want mate.

Richard......we have some liquor anasthetic here for you, all ready to go.
A colonoscopy ??? Bummer !!!! The Orc said he's a specialist at that.....if anyone is interested. :D

Doris........a double shot of anything you'd like from the bar mate....your choice. ;) ORC !!!! Would you stop oggling at Doris please ??? And NO, you cannot go out and play with her in the snow !!!!

Wow - this place is jumping! It's that Peep season - gets into everyone's blood.

Oh, now that is a good martini and I didn't think it would be as I usually like my chocolate dark and straight up! Wom, you are doing good.......

Do we have some new bar patrons? Do you know the rule about telling just one good joke - and then you are a member for life?

We need some new good jokes anyway - so go for it.

Oh, that stand over in the corner is to hold the candles that we can light for Richard praying that all will go well for him and Doris too. Please help yourselves. There are candles and matches by the stand.

No Orc, those candles are not for your birthday....besides you have already had two birthday celebrations this month (he ought to be 212 by now with all of these celebrations).

I'm headed off to Sam's. How about I just pick up a bunch of styrofoam or paper plates? That way, if Orc starts flinging them around, nobody is going to get hurt and it won't be much of a mess to clean up.

Orc go unlock the door. I was at walmart this morning and got us a year's supply of peeps!!! Peeps for all seasons too!!!

Orc, Don't you dare try and eat all of them. You will explode!!!

Of course, they aren't aged like karen's. But if we put some in the lost and found by the time we find them again, they will be. :D

RICHARD
04-22-2011, 08:42 PM
The latest Richard update: Apparently Sat was a bit optimistic, so he's now saying Sun. They have removed the continuous IV and foot pump, that points to a release sooner rather than later.

I can't remember who asked, but yes he did lose all the toes on his left foot, but has the majority of the ball of his foot, so with the proper orthotic, he should be able to walk normally. They have him using a walker now.

Wom, I thought you would guess that a gal from KY would only drink Bourbon, straight. No nasty Mint Juleps for me, thank you very much. And Orc is more than welcome to come play in the muddles (muddy puddles) w/ Tucker. I outgrew that more years ago than I care to admit to.

I took printouts of this thread to the hospital tonite and Richard really had a belly laugh from Slick's comment about peeps/microwaves.

Richard is such a charmer. He literally has nurses fighting to be his nurse. He treats everyone w/ such respect that even the orderlies and custodians love him. Gotta respect someone who respects everyone that works hard to make a living.

Karen
04-22-2011, 09:08 PM
Well, at least he may be home for Easter! And, given that he worked at a hospital for so long, I imagine he has healthy respect for those that do the hard work there! Tell him that when I was recovering from brain surgery years and years ago, the first time they had me use a walker, the physical therapist marveled and said "You do that remarkably well for a person your age!" I explained that I had lots and lots of elderly friends and relatives, so had seen the technique for much of my life.

No, Wom, the umbrella and the seahorse go in RICHARD's drinks, not Doris's.

Glad to hear Richard's spirits are up, though I'm not surprised. We'll have to stash a walker for him in the bar, and make sure his orthodics are fireproof. After all, Orc can get a little out of hand with the fireplace. :p

Moff, aren't you wonderful? Just look at all of those peeps. Makes the fillings in my teeth rattle - ha ha.

Thank goodness this is a virtual bar and we can eat and drink anything that we want - no harm done.

I lit a candle for Richard - I am sure they all love him to bits at the hospital. Let's just hope that he will heal well.

Hmmm, thanks for the chocolate martini recipe - I will have to try that out in real life.

A Very Happy Easter to everyone!

Easter update: Unfortunately Richard was not discharged today. He is NOT upset at this turn of events. Seems he likes being waited on hand and foot (excuse the pun).

He has 3 different drs that all have to sign off on his release and one has been ok w/ release for the last 2 days, the other 2 not so much.

I can't wait for him to come home, for lots of reasons but one is that it's easier to introduce 2 pets to one another w/ 2 humans to make sure no one gets hurt or bit.

I'm hoping that the next posting is truly Richard's.

hey kiddies!

I was released this afternoon and I am home.

It's a long story and I for the most part aand glad to be here and thankful for all your good thoughts and prayers and mostly for my friend, Doris. She saved my life. I had a very bad infection in my toes that had turned into a blood infection and a nasty looking foot.

I think the infection 'made' me diabetic and if that? I am borderline.

I want to thank LP for calling this afternoon.

We did have a wonderful conversation and she does have Texas in her voice and aviation in her heart.:D

I wish I could have taken my time and stopped along the way to visit some of the people along my path.

Maybe when I go back to pick up my stuff in storage later in the year I can make a more leisurely trip back here and fit in some of people and sites I want to see.

Thanks again for all your prayers and thoughts.

You all rock!

In honor of your return, we had a SNOW shower this afternoon! Yep, we're still seeing the white stuff, it's actually forecast to snow Friday.

Richard - so glad that you are home and on the mend. Hopefully you will follow doctor's orders. :p You really are pretty lucky to be here since a blood infection is no small issue - as I'm sure that you know now. I think that Doris is truly your savior. Thank you Doris for getting this stubborn guy the medical attention that he so desperately needed!!! Now keep him on the straight and narrow please! ;) I'm really up for a celebratory drink now.....
Here's to you both!!!

RICHARD, you bad boy, glad you're home and well on the mend. Really, though, no more worrying us like that, ok? My old heart can't take it. Be good from now (ok, as good as you can be) and we'll keep the prayers and good thoughts going for good measure. :)

Richard are you trying to turn my gray hair white? ;) Take care of yourself.

I bet Edster was thrilled to see you, eh?
