Well, I would open the bar for you today, but I am afraid that either Wom or LH or Richard have walked off with the keys. I guess it could have been the Orc too. At any rate, I can't do a thing until they get here with a key.

What's that..................? There's motion inside the bar..........it looks like a ghost floating around..............oh good grief, it is the Orc!!!
And he/she is totally ignoring me pound on the door. And all of the doors are locked.

Help!!!

Karen

Well, thankfully, one of my perks as Mayor is a key to the place. I'll unlock the door, but you can be the first one in, I'll wait out here!

Karen, phew, thanks! I had to leave to open the office, but now I am here to see what is going on.

I am tip toeing into the bar because the Orc is acting strangely. Oh, I get it, he has taken the white sheets off the bed and is drifting around, swing from one rafter to another looking just like a ghost.

So today our Drink of the Day will be Frosted Ghost! Anyone have any ideas of what is in it?

I am off to make some breakfast - scones, clotted cream, jam mmmm,
I am hungry!!

Karen

A quick Google revealed:

Ghost

1 1/2 oz. Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka
1/4 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
1/4 oz. Half-and-Half
1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
1/4 oz. Shavings of White Chocolate
Fill shaker with ice. Add Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, half-and-half, and simple syrup. Shake. Strain into chilled martini glass rimmed with white chocolate
Garnish with white chocolate shavings

I guess if you top it with white frosting , it'd be a Frosted Ghost?

Yep.....I'll have a ghosty thingy drink....I'll try anything once. :D:D

I wonder if a certain monkey spirit has paid Orc a visit and put ideas into his head. ;) He certainly seems to have taken some Mario lessons from somewhere.

I'd love a bagel and green tea. 6 catnip teas too please. It's Chip and Chuck's first birthday so they deserve a treat. :D

Peeks head in door, whispers is it safe to come in???

I need a hot chocolate please. I'm chilly and wet. We got a dump of snow overnight (about 8 inches). Heavy, wet snow, makes walking tough. So tired of winter.

Karen - you did good honeybun:D Ha Ha - what a great drink - and perfect with little Orcy's sheet. (little brat!).

I don't know what to eat first - I love bagels with cream cheese - just toasted lightly......yum........but then those dunker cookies are to die for from Trader Joe's. They have the best little cookies too - the pecan cookies are my favorite. I will bring some next time.

I think I will just have a late afternoon tea and a bagel for now.............

Thanks everyone for pitching in - you just never know what you are going to find around here - but leaving the Orc alone in the bar isn't the best idea. Boy when sweet Mario was here - he sure could make a mess too.

Ah the fun of it all...................

QoP - you have snow???? That's disgusting!

Queen of Poop
04-14-2011, 07:10 PM
Not only do we have snow, we are supposed to continue to see snow fall till TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK!!!!:eek::eek:

Orc, wanna go play in the snow? It's heavy and wet, perfect for snowballs or snowman making.

Wow, so glad your forecast is not ours - and so are thousands of others, as Monday is the Boston Marathon, and while it has been run in snow, or sleet, or rain in the past, it's not exactly anyone's preferred conditions!

I love going into Hopkinton for the start of the Boston Marathon. A good friend of mine's mom lives right near the start line. She always used to have juice and stuff for the runners at her house and let them hang around in her yard until the start of the race. It was a lot of fun going there as a kid. I think I'll have a bagel and cream cheese if there is any left.

Did someone say Hot chocolate? I'm in!!! We had storms last night and more on the way today. It's windy and in the 40s and going to be near freezing tonight. Plus I have a tiny sore throat. Sounds like hot chocolate weather to me.

One Large hot cholocolate for MOFF!

And 6 or 7 more DOTDs for me, I finished the tile job I was working on, and one tile is rotated about 1/32" out of square.

I will be the only one who ever notices, but that's not the point.

Queen of Poop
04-15-2011, 02:51 PM
Sorry about the mishap with your tiles. Will you redo the job or proceed to finish?

I'll take another hot chocolate please. Not snowing, yet, but it's 0oC (32oF), with a -4oC (24.8oF) windchill.

I've got a freshly filled bowl of Easter EGGS here in my office, anyone need a chocolate egg fix?

Lady's Human

It was finished when I noticed the tile ever so slightly off of square.

And LOH is  at me for STILL being irritated. It's a huge improvement over the 50 year old faded linoleum that was there, and again, no one will ever notice but me, but it's my job and I'll be annoyed if I want to be!

Karen
04-16-2011, 09:14 PM
Oh, Gail, I'll mix you one, as long as I don't have to taste it! ;) I'll stick to me tea, I have a wonderful Vanilla Chai, perfect for a day like today, where it looked nice and bright and sunny out, but was only in the 40's (F) with a cold wind. Finally, after dark, the rain started, and it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Sunday is the Youth Road Race that is 1 mile up Heartbreak Hill, so I hope the rain has stopped for that! Monday is the Boston Marathon, and it is supposed to be cool but dry for that - perfect running weather I am told.

Karen
04-17-2011, 04:56 PM
Just Palm Sunday here, Easter is a week away, but this year, maybe the tulips at the church will actually be blossoming on Easter - Easter's so late that it may work out, as loads of daffodils were blossoming today, and it was much warmer today, and sunny - and they all got drenched in a storm last night!

Happy Sunday, everyone, no matter what you celebrate! I'll make iced tea, and some hot tea, if anyone wants some!

I'm not actually Richard, I'm his KY connection. I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but Richard was admitted to the hospital yesterday and had surgery on his foot today and probably has lost all the toes on his left foot. I don't know if he mentioned that he had injured his foot while clearing out his mom's house, that was about a month ago. He thought he could treat it himself and somehow managed to get here from Cali w/a majorly infected foot. It took me 4 days to talk him into seeing a doctor. The good news is they managed to save most of the foot and w/some heavy duty antibiotics the infection should be eradicated.

He definitely hasn't lost his sense of humor. There's not a female that he's not flirted w/ and not a male who hasn't walked away from him w/ a smile on his face.

The Edster is fine and living in the Master Bedroom. I have to keep the door closed because my dog Tucker hasn't yet figured out he is going to have to share.

Richard does not have internet access, apparently hospitals frown on use of electronic devices. He does have a phone - the number is (502) 562-4907. It does ring directly to his room, but he shares it w/ a room-mate. We are on Eastern Daylight time, if that makes any difference.

My mother named me Doris (and no not after Doris Day, after her favorite waitress at a diner in Baltimore).

Richard says, "To Every One, feeling fine, gonna get better soon. Thanks for all well wishes and will keep you posted."

I want to add my thanks to his. You can't know how much your support has meant to him. After all, he is in a strange town and only knows me and my dog. You've helped him not feel so alone.

Although he has cut quite the swath thru the nursing staff. Tonite, the nurse who checked him in on the floor Sat had to come by and make sure that I'm good enough for him. She's not his nurse tonite, but made a point of stopping by. She is also a parent of a white Maine Coon, so they have that in common.
