Here’s the next puzzle – are you ready? Enjoy!

To newcomers: Read the rules before you join, please!

Here are the rules:

1. You may only guess one letter at a time.

2. After you have guessed a letter, you must wait for another player to guess a letter before you can go again. (see also rule #9)

3. The host of the game responding to a guess does not count as a turn. Should you choose a letter, then receive a response from the member host, you must wait for the next member to guess a letter.

4. One point will be awarded for each correct letter, 2 points for vowels.

5. Only six misses are allowed in the game.

6. If you wish to guess the phrase, send it to me via Pet Talk personal email. This is accessible via the 'PM' or 'Profile' buttons on any of my posts.
DO NOT post it on the forum If you wish to guess a letter, post it on the forum.

7. You must have submitted a correct letter to submit your solution. Unlike letters, if you submit a wrong solution, you are disqualified from continuing in that puzzle.

8. The player who correctly guesses the phrase wins the game. If no one has guessed it correctly after six misses, then the player with the most points wins the game.

9. Only 5 guesses allowed in total until the host updates the puzzle. Any guess after 5, before the next update, won't be counted as a guess. And as always, someone else has to guess a letter before you can guess another letter.

And here is what you win...you get to create the next puzzle. (Should you win the game, and do not care to host the next puzzle, you may pass your puzzle play to the member with the next highest points)

luckies4me
11-01-2002, 10:44 PM
Ok I am confused. Is it 5 guesses total per person or five for everyone....it isn't clear in the rules. And that was an added rule since when?

Anywho.... does my guess count, because I really want an R. If it doesn't count I will use it after you update.

Nomilynn
11-01-2002, 11:35 PM
9. Only 5 guesses allowed in total until the host updates the puzzle. Any guess after 5, before the next update, won't be counted as a guess. And as always, someone else has to guess a letter before you can guess another letter.

It's five guesses - period :D It's way too hard to try and update a whole bunch of letters at once.. As for whether it counts... It is kinda up to Nicole if she wants to do it all at once.. technically it doesn't but sometimes the moderator will let it go with a warning. :D

Yes well I think the rule needs to be more clear. It should say 5 guess per person or five guesses for the puzzle.

That rule never used to be there.....

I know the basic rules already. I have done and hosted lots of puzzles, just has been a while. But now I come back and there is another rule!

The problem with elephants in the night is that they become invisible. Even if
you shine a light on them, you don’t really see them. Possibly it’s because at
night you need to get relatively close to things before you can see them, and
the very si-e of an elephant up close offers no recognisable view of the whole
animal. All you see is darkness.

As a rule I tried to avoid driving at night, but one Friday evening after
attending a school function with the girls, I had no choice but to drive home
in the dark. About halfway home, the massive bulk of an elephant bull
loomed up rather too late in the beam of the headlights. He had his head
in the bushes alongside the road and his behind on the track directly
in front of us. I slammed on the brakes, pulling up right under the
elephant’s rump. His hind legs buckled at the knees (as usually
happens when an elephant is startled) and his enormous posterior began
descending onto the bonnet. Waiting for the colossal crunch, I closed
my eyes, but luckily the elephant changed his mind about sitting down
and charged off, screaming with consternation as he crashed destructively
through the bush. The landscape shuddered. My daughters giggled. I was in
shock and my teeth chattered the rest of the way home.
