Kate / Culture Junky sent me a Christmas present which arrived yesterday -- six WEEKS after she posted it! The gifts she got me from this candy company really struck me -- I can't imagine a US company doing this.

The Monday BOjangles Fine Confectioners of London have a cat as their icon!

On the cover of the Strawberry Bon Bons, you read:
strawberry bon bons lovingly dusted with icing sugar for the cat in charge.

And on the box:

Once upon a bakery, one morning in May,
There was a fine lady that made this cat's day,
She greeted me kindly with a flour flecked smile,
and with arms full of buns, bid me browse for a while.

"Do you fancy a treat?" she asked with a wink,
I replied: "Something sweet," (Suitably coy I think).
Advancing she whispered, "I've something your' take,"
Then from behind her back came, A strawberry cupcake . . .

A bit more to share

Now on the hard candies, you can see the seal with the paw print, that reads:
Personally selected by Monty Bojangles.

The Natural Pear Drops story:
Monty Bojangles patrolled Horse Guards Parade,
And longingly thought of his latest London maid,
With silky smooth skin and soft curling hair,
She purrs with pleasure for his drops made of pear.

Who is Monday Bojangles?
Why, he is the cat in charge of course.

(That tag line, the last 2, appear on each box, I won't repeat them)

Natural White Mice story:
Monty Bojangles bobbed past St. Johns Gate,
And longingly thought of his latest London date,
So marvellously minxy there's no need to entice,
When in need of a breather he deploys his White Mice.

Natural Rhubarb and Custard story:
Monday Bojangles dance down Drury Lane
And longingly thought of his latest London dame,
Remarkably rich with an expensive smile,
(Gifts of Rhubarb and Custard prove very worthwhile).

There are several cat images on each box, with one being a cat atop a roof looking out to the skyline of London.

:D Just tickles me! I can't imagine a US company being bothered, and getting all the punctuation in and all, this is just so novel!

Thanks Kate! This package was well worth the wait (though I'm surprised Customs didn't just keep it and eat it all, after 6 weeks!)

They are for the cats, read the second box, Natural White 'mice' The Pearl drops, they gotta be for the cats too I guess as the box is the same and only the color and name is different

I've started the pear drops, never had such before. YUM!

Oh, some are white (Anjou or Bosc pears?) and some are red! Haven't sampled a red as yet. This is so much fun!

Kate, can't thank you enough!

Hehe, I am so glad you like them Sandie, I mean everybody likes sweets (or Candy as you call them in the US)
I came across the Monty Bojangles company in my Your Cat magazine (British cat mag that I have a subscription to)
They did an article on the company as it has a cat logo and there is actually a cat that lives in the shop I seem to recall. I will have to search out the article and scan in it for you all.
Every month they have an article about cats that either live or 'work' in various, shops, restaurants and other businesses in the United Kingdom. Monty Bojangles was featured.
I chose these for Sandi for a few reasons
1: They are a British company so wouldn't be available in the US (When I ordered it stated that as yet they weren't able to despatch things to the United States)
2: They have really nice packaging, the cat logo and little rhymes on each box!
3: The number of different items they sell
4: Everybody likes sweets!! :)

They have just launched easter eggs in some shops in the UK.

I'm chuffed that you all think they are great!
