Why Own a Cat? http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q57/sfsamm/Siggy/Cats/crazycatlady.jpg

There's a danger you know.
You can't own just one, for the craving ...will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger.

One cat is not trouble, and two are so funny,
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey
The fifth is delightful, the sixth one's a breeze.
You find you can live with a houseful, with ease.

So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy, but Oh Lord, the hair!
With cats on the sofa and cats on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, its no bother, you said.

They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's just one more cat and one more little crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty.
The floor is all footprints, the furniture's dusty.

The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few noseprints and a little more hair?
So let's keep a kitten, you can always find room.
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

There's hardly a limit to the cats you can add
The thought of a cutback, sure makes you feel sad.
Each one is special, so useful, so funny,
The food bill grows larger, you owe the vet money.

Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other cat folks, who live the same way.
Your lawn has now died and your shrubs are dead, too.
Your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew.

There's cat food and vitamins, grooming and shots
And litter and toys and more, all which cost lots.
Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favorite comes up and climbs in your lap.

His look says you're special and you know that you will
Keep all of the kittens in spite of the bill.
Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the cats on the sofa, who refuse to get up. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q57/sfsamm/Siggy/Cats/catcouch.gif

The whole thing seems worth it, the cats are your life.
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.
Your lifestyle has changed, things just won't be the same.
Yes, those cats are addictive and so's the cat game!

Dear Aunt Sandie,

Who owns whom? ;) (It's my house; my fudz lady just pays the mortgage.)

Lubz, purrs and head bumpies,

Lulu here - Mom1 and Mom2 really had quite the time when they came to the Kitty wing of the local shelter looking for some Katkidz to share their home with!! There were so many good looking fellow inmates waiting for their forever homes!!! I wasn't sure I was going to get a chance - there were kittens just in from their stays in foster homes and some oldsters, like me, who were given up for a lot of different reasons. My first family had a new baby and they didn't think I was going to be good with her (not sure why now ). I was in the "senior" category - I was 7 years old and was available for no charge. Mom2 immediately was taken by my smushed face. The attendant described me as a cat with an "attitude." Hey - I just know what I want and when I want it!!! Now, Mom1 had her eye on a youngster down the line who was a funny looking tortie - strangest markings I've ever seen!!! When they brought us together (to check out my 'tude for this whipper snapper), I knew I needed to be on best behavior!! I kept my thoughts to myself and Mom2 said I was for her. So we both went home together. I have staked my claims to the funny tunnel that Mom1 brought home for us to play with - it's my "safe house" - and I've put Bitster in her place a number of times - but it hasn't stopped her from teasing me!!! Boy, can she jump

There are so many fellow kitty travelers looking for homes - Mom1 and Mom2 really could have taken all of them home - but I'm not sure where they would all have fit!! So here's to everyone who goes to the shelters when they want to share their home with furkidz - they are truly special in my eyes!!

Well, have to go now - the Bitster is trying to steal my wet food!!!

Lulu here.

Hello Lulu and Bitster, this is The Found Cat Hotel Cat Team.:)
We sure loved your story, and you are right, it takes a special Purrson to go into a shelter and go to the Senior Cats , and realize what Great Cats you are, as you are so mature and have still got years of love to give a Family.:cool:
One thing we like about Our Cat Dad, he never says he owns us, he shares his life with us.
He sure is a Great Filler of Dishes and Our Provider of Warmth:love::love:
