Thousands of octopus wash up dead on 5 mile stretch of Portugal beach.

No cause is known as yet.

The photos - some are small (young) and some are good sized! So strange!

How strange that there were so many together, I always thought of octopuses as quite solitary creatures. Surely for them all to be washed up in one go, they would have been gathered together somehow?

I do hope that an act of mankind was not the cause of their deaths... :(

I wonder if it was some storm or sudden change in water temperature, with La Niņa and the North Atlantic Oscillation both at work this season, there's "lot of weather" happening.

Here's a story (http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/13/forecaster-two-phenomena-responsible-for-worlds-bizarre-weather/) explaining that part ...

Some people are once again hinting that it is the end of the world drawing near.
YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS DON'T YOU?

It means I am going shopping and buying whatever I want, going on vacation and running up my credit card bills on everything and anything because we will all be dead soon and I won't have to pay for any of it.

There doesn't sound so bad now does it. Gotta find the humor folks.
There will always be crazies that say the world is gonna end.
