My wee Diva Dog arrived here from her foster home 4 years ago today. WHAT A SWEETIE!

Sugar Dugar, life has never been the same since you arrived. You bring us smiles daily, with your tappy toes dances and your bouncing walk, lol.

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY!

Photos from her foster mom, before I met her:

Sweet Sugar! Mmwah! Happy Gotcha Day!!

Freedom, how old was Sugar when she came to you? On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't be asking, because a lady doesn't disclose her age ;)

Sugar arrived here at age 9.5 years, blind with age related cataracts, and with scabs, she was still healing from the attack of the Bull Mastiff, which picked her up by the head and shook her. She was in a coma for 72 hours, almost lost her left eye. Had a drainage tube in her head for 7 to 10 days.

That all happened in her first foster home; she was moved to another foster home (the other lady has been dropped as a foster parent; she went to the shelter and brought home this mastiff as an adult rescue. With bichons in the house!). They told me all about this before I agreed to adopt her.

She fully recovered from the attack, physically. Mentally, she was terrified any time she heard another dog (remember, the attack happened when she was totally blind, so she never saw it coming!) I'd walk her around my neighbor hood, and if a chihuahua barked one street over, at the post carrier, Sugar was in sheer terror.

Sugar is no longer afraid. Gaining her sight helped; taking some classes helped; and having fearless Lacey arrive 6 months later helped a lot, lol!

Oh my goodness, Sugar! How frightening that must have been for you! I am grateful that you recovered, that you are no longer afraid and that your mum does soooooo much to help you have a joyful, happy life! (and that she takes pictures and shares the joy and happiness with me!!)

I think Sugar is aptly named! What a sweet doll. My first thought, also, Sandi, was that Sugar couldn't be in a better home. Tell her that I understand, in a way, what she went through, but lots of love and protection from others, helps a lot. Please, please give sugar to Sugar for me!:love::love::love:

Wow, I would never have guessed that Sugar was that old. She looks great!

And I also had no idea about her brutal history. Poor little baby :( I'm happy she's in a good, safe forever home now.

Lots of love to you little Sugar girl... and a very belated "Happy Gotcha Day" from me and Taggart! ;)

Thank you both!

Sugar led a pretty good life for 9 years, it was just that stupid foster parent.
